Who is Catherine Bach?
Catherine Bachman was born in Cleveland, Ohio USA, on 1 March 1954 – her zodiac sign is Pisces, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress with more than 30 credits to her name, while she’s probably still known best for her portrayal of Daisy Duke, one of the main characters in the critically acclaimed action comedy series “The Dukes of Hazzard”, created by Gy Waldron, and which also starred Tom Wopat and John Schneider. It follows the lives of the Duke boys from Hazzard County, the series aired from 1979 to 1985, and won two of the six awards for which it was nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Individual Achievement – Costumers.

Some of Catherine’s fans believe that she’s retired from acting, as she hasn’t appeared in any movies or TV series since 2019, however, she’s yet to confirm this.
Early life and education
Catherine was raised in Warren, Ohio alongside her brother Philip, by their father Bernard P. Bachman who was a rancher, and their mother Norma Jean Kucera (nee Verdugo) who was an acupuncturist.
Catherine became interested in acting while attending Stevens High School in Rapid City, South Dakota; she was a member of the school’s drama club, and could’ve been seen starring in many plays performed at the school. She wanted to pursue acting straight away upon matriculating in 1972, however, Catherine was urged by her parents to pursue a college degree, and she thus enrolled at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), but quit after less than a year.
Roles in movies
Catherine made her debut film appearance in the 1974 mystery crime drama “The Midnight Man”, while a couple of her following roles were in the 1974 crime comedy drama “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”, which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Jeff Bridges), and in 1975 the science fiction “Strange New World” and the mystery crime drama “Hustle”.
She played Marcie, Lamborghini Babe in the 1984 action comedy “Cannonball Run II”, directed by Hal Needham and Ralph Bakshi, and which starred Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise and Dean Martin. It follows a group of people as they’re racing across the country in their cars and trucks, and the movie won one of the nine awards for which it was nominated. The remainder of the ‘80s saw Catherine play supporting characters in several not-so-popular movies, such as the 1987 action drama “Street Justice”, the 1989 science fiction action “Driving Force” and the crime horror thriller “Criminal Act” in the same year.
She’s appeared in only seven movies since then – three of her most recent roles have been in the comedy drama “The Breakup Girl” and the 2015 action horror “Book of Fire” in 2015, and the 2016 family drama “My Best Friend”.

Roles in TV series
Catherine made her debut TV series appearance in the 1975 episode “Matt Helm” of the eponymous action crime drama, and she then played Bill’s Hitchhiker in the 1977 episode “Screams” of the popular action crime drama “Police Woman”. It was created by Robert L. Collins, starred Angie Dickinson, Earl Holliman and Charles Dierkop, and follows the life of Los Angeles Police Department’s best undercover police officer Sergeant ‘Pepper’ Anderson; the series aired from 1974 to 1978, and won two of the 24 awards for which it was nominated.
Catherine played Daisy Duke in the 1980 episode “Enos” and the 1981 episode “One Daisy Per Summer” of the action comedy “Enos”, and the year 1983 saw her appear in an episode of the romantic comedy drama “The Love Boat”.
She voiced Daisy in all the 20 episodes of the 1983 animated action comedy “The Dukes”, and her following role came in 1987, when cast to appear in the episode “Drive, She Said” of the comedy “Trying Times”.
Between 1992 and 1994, Catherine played the lead character Margo Dutton in all the 52 episodes of the adventure drama “African Skies”, created by Larry Mollin and Phil Savath, and which also starred Robert Mitchum and Raimund Harmstorf. It follows a black and a white teenager as they’re growing up in post-Apartheid South Africa.
Catherine’s since appeared in only three TV series: the 2006 episode “Mr. Monk Meets His Dad” of the crime comedy drama “Monk”, the 2015 episode “Luapo’i” of the action crime drama “Hawaii Five-0”, but 62 episodes of the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” between 2012 and 2019.
Other credits
Catherine sang the song “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” in the 1983 episode “A Baby for the Dukes” of the series “The Dukes of Hazzard”, and “Voices That Care” in the eponymous 1991 documentary movie.
She could’ve been seen featured in numerous documentaries, most recently in the 2013 series “Marie”, the 2014 series “Teens Wanna Know”, and the 2021 movie “Hollywood Signs”.

Love life and husband
Catherine prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, but has still allowed her fans to have a glimpse into it. She married her first husband, David Shaw on 15 May 1976; not a lot is known about David, except for being the stepson of famous Irish-British and American actress and musician Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury. David and Catherine had no children together, and they divorced for unknown reasons on 5 August 1981.
She married her second husband, Peter Lopez on 8 August 1990; Peter was an American entertainment attorney, and they have two daughters Sophia Isabella and Laura Esmeralda together, born in January 1996 and October 1998, respectively. The marriage ended on 30 April 2010, when Peter committed suicide in his apartment, reason never known.
Catherine hasn’t mentioned any other men whom she’s perhaps been with, and as of July 2022, she’s single, has been married twice, and has two daughters with her second husband Peter Lopez.

Hobbies and other interests
Catherine’s been a fashionista since her teenage years, and enjoys keeping up with all of the latest fashion trends by reading various fashion magazines; she made clothes while attending college, to financially support herself.
She’s a huge fan of the late actor James Best; the two starred alongside in “The Dukes of Hazzard”, and he was also her mentor.
Catherine’s into travelling, and has been to nearly all of US states for both work and pleasure, while her dream travel destination is Miami, Florida.
She’s a lover of animals, with cats and parrots being her favorites.
Catherine has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom include Clint Eastwood, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, while a couple of her favorite movies are “Gran Torino”, “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Les Miserables”.
