He soon developed his love for music which helped him to overcome his struggles, and after entering The Woodlands High School, he started creating his own music. At the time, he crossed paths with Merlyn Wood, JOBA, Kevin Abstract, and Ameer Vann, with whom he would later form a band, initially performing together with his friends in several bars in his hometown. Career Beginnings
Matt Champion embarked on his musical journey when he became a member of the hip-hop collective AliveSinceForever, which was formed four years earlier by his high school friend Kevin Abstract. The band initially included 30 members, such as manager Jon Nunes, producer Romil Hemnani, and photographer Ashlan Grey. Matt joined them in 2014 before they officially adopted the new moniker Brockhampton. He showcased his amazing music talent with the release of the 2015 single “Bet I”, which was followed by two more singles, entitled “Hero” and “Dirt”. Rise to Fame
In 2017, Brockhampton released the “Saturation” trilogy, which consisted of three studio albums – “Saturation” in June, “Saturation II” in August, and “Saturation III” in December. The trilogy was a significant part of the group’s early discography and it played a crucial role in establishing their unique sound on the music scene and propelling them into the spotlight. All three albums received acclaim from music critics – some of the most popular singles from the trilogy include “Heat”, “Star”, “Gold”, “Gummy”, and “Sweet”.

The album featured the single “Sugar”, which reached No. 66 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and earned the band their first platinum rcertification. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they dropped non-studio singles under the title “Technical Difficulties” on YouTube. They also released a series of singles through their Twitch and Instagram livestreams.
Their subsequent official studio album, “Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine”, came out in 2021. However, in the following year, they announced an indefinite hiatus during their performance at the Coachella festival. Before disbanding, Brockhampton issued two more studio albums, entitled “The Family” and “TM”, both in 2022.
Solo Career
In addition to his career as a member of Brockhampton, Matt is known as a solo performer. He issued his debut solo single, entitled “Die With Me”, on 22 June 2014.
