Who is Donald Gibb?
American retired actor Donald Richard Gibb was born in New York City, USA, on 4 August 1954, making his zodiac sign Leo. He had roles in 98 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for his playing of Ogre in the 1984 comedy movie “Revenge of the Nerds”, which Jeff Kanew directed, and which starred Timothy Busfield, Anthony Edwards and Robert Carradine. It follows a group of bullied outcasts who are attending Adams College, and have teamed up wanting to fight back against their bullies.
Donald retired from acting in 2011, and has since been leading a peaceful life, away from the media’s attention in Chicago, Illinois.
Education and early life
Donald was raised in Los Angeles, California as his family moved there not long after he was born; he hasn’t shared a lot about his parents, because he respects their privacy, and because Donald hasn’t spoken about his siblings either, most of his fans believe that he has none.
He studied at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, and was mostly into sports during his four years there; Donald was on his school’s basketball and football teams, but eventually gave up on football to focus solely on basketball.
Upon matriculating in 1973, he enrolled at the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship, however, Donald eventually transferred to the University of San Diego, and returned to playing football there; he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1978, and then turned to acting.
Roles in movies
Donald’s debut film appearance was his playing of Henchman in the 1980 action comedy “Any Which Way You Can”, which starred Clint Eastwood and won two of its four award nominations. Some of his following roles were in the war comedy “Stripes” and the action drama “Nichols & Dymes” both in 1981,and the 1982 action adventure fantasy “Conan the Barbarian”.
In 1984, Donald was cast to play Mad Dog in the comedy “Meatballs Part II”, and then attracted a lot of attention in the following year, with his portrayal of Ex-Convict in the comedy “Lost in America”, written and directed by Albert Brooks, who also starred in it alongside Julie Hagerty and Sylvia Farrel. It follows a married couple in their 30s who’ve quit their jobs, and are now travelling around the US in their car; the movie won one of its two award nominations.
Some of Donald’s notable performances in the remainder of the ‘80s were in the 1986 sports comedy “Jocks”, the ‘87 comedy “They Still Call Me Bruce”, and the ‘88 biographical action drama “Bloodsport”.
In 1991, he portrayed Hurrudnik in the mystery thriller comedy “Missing Pieces”, and the year 1993 saw him play Darrell in the science fiction horror comedy “Breakfast of Aliens”, written and directed by David Lee Miller, and in which Donald starred alongside Vic Dunlop and Indy Shriner; it follows a stand-up comedian who’s actually eaten an alien by mistake.
Donald had only a couple of other movie roles in the ‘90s, in the 1994 family comedy “Magic Kid II”, the ’96 sports action “Bloodsport 2”, and the 1998 action crime thriller “High Voltage”.
The year 2004 saw him play Uncle Marvin in the drama “Lightning Bug”, written and directed by Robert Hall, and which starred Bret Harrison, Laura Prepon and Kevin Gage; the film tells the story of a boy who wants to run away from his small town and become a special effects make-up artist.
Donald’s final three movie roles were in the 2005 drama “The Biggest Fan”, the 2006 crime drama “8 of Diamonds”, and the 2008 action fantasy drama “Hancock”.
Roles in TV series
Donald’s debut TV series appearance was in the 1983 episode “Jolene and the Night Watchman” of the comedy “Alice”, and the same year saw him appear in an episode of the action crime drama “Simon & Simon”, the action drama “Hardcastle and McCormick”, and the action adventure crime “The A-Team”.
Between 1985 and 1991, Donald starred as Leslie Dr. Death Crunchner in the sports comedy “1st & Ten”, created by Carl Cleinschmitt, and which also starred Cliff Frazier and Prince Hughes. It follows the members of the football team California Bulls, and the series was nominated for two awards. Donald could then have been seen playing supporting characters in the comedy “Stand by Your Man”, the comedy drama “Cheers”, and the family fantasy comedy “Harry and the Hendersons”.

Between 1993 and 1998, he played both Slasher and Moose in the popular romantic family comedy “Step by Step”, created by William Bickley and Robert L. Boyett, and which starred Patrick Duffy, Suzanne Somers and Brandon Call. It follows a man with children who’s married a woman with children, and the series won one of its 15 award nominations.
Donald had only a couple of other TV series roles prior to his retirement, and his final three were in the 2002 episode “Daddy’s Girl” of the action adventure comedy “She Spies”, a 2003 episode of the soap opera “The Young and the Restless”, and the 2011 episode “The 6th Disgustoid” of the animated family comedy “Secret Mountain Fort Awesome” (voice role).
Other credits
Donald voiced characters in five video games, including Giant in the 1995 “What’s My Story”, Floyd the Bouncer in the 1997 “Zork: Grand Inquisitor”, and Angry Prisoner in the 2010 “Mafia II”.
He featured in the 2011 episode “Dr. Cyclops” of the talk-show “Svengoolie”.
Donald received special thanks for the 2016 episode “Pennywise” of the talk-show “Captain Kyle’s Cosplay Spotlight”.
Love life and wife
Although he likes to keep the details of his love life away from media, it’s still known that Donald was a married man. He married non-celebrity American Jacqueline Bauer on 20 June 1981, in a small, private ceremony attended by less than 100 of their closest family members and friends; it’s widely believed that Jacqueline was a painter, although this hasn’t been confirmed.
Donald and Jacqueline have a child together; the date of their divorce remains undisclosed.
He hasn’t spoken of other women whom he’s perhaps dated, and Donald seems to be single as of November 2022, was once married to Jacqueline Bauer, and has a child with her.

Hobbies and other interests
Donald’s a member of the fraternity Phi Delta Theta.
He’s a businessman, as he’s a co-owner of the brewing business Trader Todd’s Adventure Beer; he was once on the label of their Ogre Beer Lyte, and was their spokesperson.
Donald began practicing martial arts at the age of eight, and continued for the following 20 years.
Most people know him only for his playing of Ogre in “Revenge of the Nerds”; he had to shave his long beard for the role.
Some of Donald’s favorite actors are Michael Cane, Sean Connery and Robert Duvall, and his favorite movies include “Secondhand Lions”, “Best Sellers”, and “Going in Style”.
