Who is Amy Spanger?
American actress and singer Amy Spanger was born in Newbury, Massachusetts USA, on 21 May 1971, making her zodiac sign Gemini. She’s had roles in 15 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for playing Sally DeBains in the 2005 horror comedy “Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical”, directed by Andy Fickman, and which starred Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell and Neve Campbell. It’s a parody of the 1936 anti-marijuana movie “Reefer Madness”, and the film won five of its 15 award nominations.
Amy hasn’t been active in the film industry since 2018, but hasn’t officially retired from acting.

Education and early life
Amy was raised in Newbury by her mother and father who prefer to stay away from media, thus not a lot about them is known; Amy hasn’t spoken of any siblings, which is why most of her fans believe that she has none.
She became interested in acting, dancing and singing while attending Triton Regional High School; Amy was in her school’s drama and debating clubs, and also practiced creative writing and ran track. She matriculated in 1989, and although Amy hasn’t confirmed this, it’s believed that she then enrolled at college, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in acting in 1993.
Prior to launching her career on TV, Amy appeared in a couple of theatre plays, some of which were the 1995 Broadway production of the musical “Sunset Boulevard” and a 1996 production of “Jekyll & Hyde”; she then also appeared in productions of “Kiss Me, Kate”, “Chicago” and “Urinetown”.

Amy’s debut TV series appearance was her portrayal of Barbara in the 2001 episode “Windows of Opportunity” of the comedy drama “Ed”, which Rob Burnett and Jon Beckerman created, and which starred Josh Randall, Julie Bowen and Tom Cavanagh. It follows a lawyer who worked in New York City prior to being fired, and who’s now returned to his hometown in Ohio and has purchased a bowling business; the series ran from 2000 to 2004, and won eight of its 34 award nominations.
The following a couple of years saw Amy appear in an episode of the comedy “Becker”, the drama “EGG, the Arts Show” and the comedy drama “Six Feet Under”.
In 2009, Amy was cast to play Michael Ian Black’s Wife in the comedy “Michael & Michael Have Issues”, created by Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter who also starred in it; the series follows the lives of two best friends and their families.
Amy played Kerry in the 2010 episode “Medusa” of the comedy drama “Royal Pains”, Kitty in the 2011 episode “The Blonde in the Woods” of the crime comedy drama “Bored to Death”, and Nina in the 2014 episode “Expectations” of the comedy “Submissions Only”.

Amy’s two most recent TV series roles have been in the 2017 episode “Smokey Putnum (No. 30)” of the mystery crime drama “The Blacklist”, and the 2018 episode “Crisis of Confidence” of the drama “Chicago Med”.

She portrayed Soap Actress Nurse in the critically acclaimed 2008 drama “Synecdoche, New York”, which Charlie Kaufman wrote and directed, and which starred Michelle Williams, Samantha Morton and Philip Seymour Hoffman. It follows the life of a struggling theatre director, and the movie won eight of its 37 award nominations.
In 2016, Amy played Gina in the thriller drama “No Beast So Fierce”, directed by Tim McCann, and which starred Dylan Baker, Bailey Chase and Kathryn Erbe. It follows Charlie Sundstrom who’s just been released from prison, and now has to find and protect his son from a gang.

Amy married her second husband, non-celebrity American man Brian Shepard on 4 September 2011, and they’ve since been together.
