Who is Madylin Sweeten?

American actress Madylin Anne-Michele Sweeten was born in Brownwood, Texas USA, on 21 June 1991, so Cancer’s her zodiac sign. She’s had roles in nearly 30 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still known best for playing Ally Barone, one of the main characters in the comedy series “Everybody Loves Raymond”, which Phil Rosenthal created, and which also starred Brad Garrett, Patricia Heaton and Ray Romano. It follows the lives of American sports columnist Ray Barone and his family, the series aired from 1996 through 2005, and won 71 of its 248 award nominations.

Madylin’s still quite active in the film industry, and is currently shooting for the upcoming short movie “Catalyst”.

Education and early life

Madylin was raised alongside her three younger siblings, including brother Sawyer Sweeten in Brownwood by their mother Elizabeth Anne Gini (nee Millsap) and father Timothy Lynn ‘Tim’ Sweeten; Sawyer was an actor who starred alongside Madylin in “Everybody Loves Raymond”, but committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on 23 April 2015, 19 days shy of his 20th birthday.

Madylin was somewhat thrown into the film industry, as she was only four when she made her debut movie appearance, playing Young Debra in the 1996 crime drama “A Promise to Carolyn”, which starred Delta Burke and Swoosie Kurtz, and follows two sisters in their 30s who’ve made a deal to finally learn more about the strange death of their third sibling. Madylin’s first acting experience made her fall in love with it, and she hasn’t stopped acting to this day.

She studied at a local high school in Los Angeles, California as she eventually moved there with her family, and upon matriculating in 2009, Madylin focused on her career rather than pursuing a college degree.

In 1998, Madelyn played Dora in the family drama “The Christmas Path”, and the following year saw her play Young Aloise in the family drama “A Dog of Flanders”.

Also in 1999, Madylin voiced Woman in the hit animated adventure comedy “Toy Story 2”, written and directed by Ash Brannon and John Lasseter, and which starred Joan Cusack, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks. It follows a group of toys which are actually alive, and the movie won 21 of its 49 award nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Best Music, Original Song. Some of Madylin’s following roles were in the 2001 comedy “Ask Me No Questions”, the 2003 biographical comedy “American Splendor”, and the 2008 action mystery thriller “Eagle Eye”.

In 2013, she played a supporting character in the short comedy “Our Friends Are F*cking”, directed by Benjamin M. Piety, and which starred Marguerite Gioia Insolia and Dave Mays; it follows four people who’ve met at a club and are now at one’s apartment, with two having sex behind a curtain. In 2014, Madylin appeared in both the short drama “Wedding Frisk”, and the short comedy “Human Centipede 3 Parody with Bree Olson”, and the year 2015 saw her portray Claire in the comedy “Spare Change”, directed by Arturo Guzman and Jonathan Talbert, and which starred Lissa Lauria, Elyse Levesque and Curt Mega; it follows friends Lily and Jane who’ve decided to pretend to be homeless, and ask people in the streets for money.

Some of Madylin’s most recent movie roles have been in the 2016 crime comedy “Sam and Me”, and in 2017 the short drama “Choice” and the short romantic drama “New Years Eve”.

Roles in TV series

Madylin’s debut TV series role was playing the lead character Maggie in the 1996 pilot of the mini-series “Mildred & Maggie”, which wasn’t picked by any network; her next role (besides “Everybody Loves Raymond”) followed in 2013, when cast to play Denise in the episode “Friendsgiving” of the comedy “The Next Steps”, which starred Anthony Fanelli and Lyndsey Doolen, and follows the long-term relationship of Beth and Chris.

From 2013 through 2017, Madylin portrayed various characters in the comedy “TMI Hollywood”, which starred Matthew Marcy, Jess Ellis and Jason Gianvecchio, and is a parody of the celebrity culture.

Madylin avoids speaking about her love life in public, but it’s still widely known that she’s today engaged to Sean Durrie, an American actor and writer who’s appeared in close to 30 movies and TV series, and is probably known best for playing John Dakota in the comedy series “Easy to Assemble”, which aired from 2008 through 2012.

It’s widely believed that Madylin and Sean began dating in 2015, but this hasn’t been confirmed by them. They announced in 2017 that they’d become engaged, with Madylin showing off her engagement ring in her Instagram pictures; the two haven’t exchanged vows to this day, but are still together.

Madylin hasn’t mentioned other men whom she’s maybe been with, she’s engaged to Sean Durrie as of March 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
