Who is Tom Everett Scott?

Thomas Everett ‘Tom’ Scott was born in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts USA, on 7 September 1970 – his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor, film producer and director, with close to 100 acting credits to his name, while he’s perhaps still known best for his portrayal of Guy Patterson in the 1996 musical comedy movie “That Thing You Do!”, written and directed by Tom Hanks, who also starred in it alongside Liv Tyler and Charlize Theron. It follows a band from Pennsylvania who had a single hit in 1964, which is still keeping them popular; the movie won three of the 12 awards for which it was nominated, including an Oscar nomination for Best Music, Original Song.

This was also Tom’s debut film appearance.

Early life and education

Tom was raised in East Bridgewater alongside his three siblings, by their father William Joseph ‘Bill’ Scott who was a civil engineer, and who passed away in 2007, and their mother Cynthia ‘Cindy’ (nee Pierce) who was an insurance sales representative.

Tom grew up focused on his studies, wanting to follow in his parents’ footsteps and be academically educated. He was interested in a couple of activities while attending a local high school, including playing sports with his friends and dancing, while he only appeared in a school play or two during those four years.

Upon matriculating in 1988, Tom enrolled at Syracuse University, and it was during his time there that he fell in love with acting; he initially studied communications, but sometime along the way switched to drama, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1992.

Tom made his debut TV series appearance in the 1994 episode “Love in the Dark Ages” of the short adventure comedy “CBS Schoolbreak Special”, and the remainder of the ‘90s saw him appear in an episode or two of a couple of series, including the romantic drama “Another World”, and the romantic comedy “Grace Under Fire”.

In 2000 and 2001, Tom played the lead character Jack T. Kenderson in the drama “The $treet”, created by Darren Star and Jeff Rake, and which also starred Nina Garbiras and Christian Campbell; it follows a group of people working at a small Wall Street trading company.

What marked the decade for Tom was probably his portrayal of the main character Wyatt Cole in 13 episodes of the 2006 drama “Saved”, created by David Manson, and which also starred Omari Hardwick and Elizabeth Reaser. The series follows the life of a paramedic who’s addicted to gambling, and is in a turbulent relationship; it won one of the three awards for which it was nominated.

Some of Tom’s following notable performances were in the 2008 comedy drama “Cashmere Mafia”, the 2009 mystery crime drama “Law & Order”, and the 2011 animated action adventure “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” (voice role).

Tom played Andy McDermott in the 1997 fantasy horror comedy “An American Werewolf in Paris”, and the remainder of the ‘90s saw him appear in several critically acclaimed movies, such as the 1998 comedy “Dead Man on Campus”, the 1998 drama “One True Thing”, and the 1999 drama “Inherit the Wind”.

He portrayed Elliott Grebb in the popular 2002 romantic comedy “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder”, directed by Walt Becker, and which starred Ryan Reynolds, Tara Reid and Tim Matheson. It follows the most popular boy on campus who’s fallen in love with a journalist, and the film was nominated for two awards. Some of Tom’s other notable performances in the 2000s were in the 2004 comedy drama “Sexual Life”, the 2007 romantic comedy “Because I Said So”, and the 2009 action family adventure “Race to Witch Mountain”.

The year 2015 saw him play Jim in the musical drama “Bravetown”, directed by Daniel Duran, and which starred Laura Dern, Maria Bello and Josh Duhamel. The movie follows a DJ who’s moved to a small town and fallen in love with a beautiful girl.

Three of Tom’s most recent roles in movies have been in the 2020 romantic comedy drama “Sister of the Groom”, the drama “Rise and Shine, Benedict Stone” and the crime drama “The Good Father: The Martin MacNeill Story” both in b2021; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “One True Love” and “The Adventures of Buddy Thunder”.

Jenni has only two acting credits: she played Denise in the 1998 drama movie “River Red”, which starred her husband, and portrayed both Emma Shearer and Holly Taylor in 23 episodes of the drama series “Peak Practice”, between 1996 and 1999.

Tom and Jenni have two children together, but not a lot about them is known, as the married couple prefers to keep them away from media.
