Dorothea met Jon Bon Jovi at high school, during an exam they had when he was trying to see answers from her test, and after which they became friends. She was dating Jon Bon Jovi’s best friend Bobby at that time, and Jon was dating the actress Diane Lane for about five months in 1985. He admitted that his song “Bobby’s Girl” was written for Dorothea – he was in love with her since they met, but didn’t tell her, because she was dating his friend.
When they were in their 20s, Dorothea and Jon Bon Jovi started their relationship, and on 29 April 1989, they married in the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada; no one knew about the wedding – Jon was on a tour with his band, and during a stop in Los Angeles, California, he secretly traveled to Las Vegas to marry Dorothea.
The couple has four children together, the oldest is daughter Stephanie Rose, born in 1993, and they have three sons whose names are Jesse James Louis (born in 1995), Jacob Hurley (born in 2002), and Romeo Jon (born in 2004).

It’s a program of the JBJ Soul Foundation, which is the co-foundation of Jon and Dorothea. During the years they have been building homes, and providing housing, education, food, and healthcare for the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and others in need. Dorothea is a big part of this foundation, and is recognized as a philanthropist; she supported charities such as BID 2 BEAT AIDS, Red Cross, Stop Global Warming, and she also causes such as Creative Arts, Human Rights, Hunger, Disaster Relief, and many others.
