Who is Sofia Valastro?

Sofia was born in New Jersey, USA, on 23 April 2003 – her zodiac sign is Taurus, and she holds American nationality. She’s a student and TV personality, but probably known best for being a daughter of Buddy Valastro, a famous American baker and reality TV personality.

Early life and education

Sofia was raised in New Jersey alongside her siblings Bartolo ‘Budy’ III, Carlo and Marco, by their father and their mother Lisa Bartolo, who’s a housewife.

Sofia grew up being interested in a number of activities, including becoming involved in her family’s cake business at quite an early age – she was seven when she appeared in the episodes “Cassata, Cheesecakes & Crates of Wine” and “Santa, Sunrise & Snowmen Cupcakes” of her father’s reality show “Cake Boss”.

Bartolo ‘Buddy’ Valastro Jr. was born in Hoboken, New Jersey USA, on 3 March 1977 – his zodiac sign is Pisces, and he holds American nationality. He’s probably known best for starring in the reality show “Cake Boss”, alongside Mauro Castano and Danny Dragone; it follows Buddy and his staff at Carlo’s Bakery, with each episode showing them preparing two cakes. The series has been airing since 2009, and was nominated for a 2011 Astra Award for Favourite Program – International.

Buddy was raised in Hoboken alongside his four sisters, by their Italian mother who was born in Altamura and their Italian father who was born in Lipari.

He became interested in baking while attending Ridgefield Park High School, and thus began taking baking lessons at Bergen County Technical School; it was his father who was the owner at Carlo’s Bakery, and Buddy began working in it aged 11.

Buddy was 17 when his father passed away, and he thus took over the family business; his mother eventually married her second husband, Sergio.

The show “Cake Boss” made Buddy and his cake shop very popular, so much so that he went on to open 17 more bakeries; in 2012, the newspaper “The Hudson Reporter” named Buddy amongst the 50 most influential people in Hudson County.

Buddy has had some problems with the authorities, as he was arrested on 13 November 2014 for drunk driving; he paid a $300 fine, and had his driver’s license suspended for three months.

In September 2020, Buddy had to undergo two surgeries after his right hand had been impaled by a bowling pinsetter.

The success of Buddy’s show “Cake Boss” led to the release of many spin-offs, such as “Next Great Baker” in 2010, “Kitchen Boss” in 2011, and “Bake You Rich” in 2013. Since 2018, he has been hosting the reality game-show “Bake It Like Buddy”, in which he’s today starring alongside Ralph ‘Ralphie Boy’ Attanasia III and Chad Durkin; each episode follows two families as they compete in cooking.

Buddy supported Chris Christie during his 2016 presidential campaign, and had baked a cake for his birthday two years earlier.
