Ian Bohen Wiki Bio
Ian Stuart Bohen was born on 24 September 1976, in Carmel, California, USA. He’s an American actor, perhaps known best for playing Ryan in the popular neo-Western TV series “Yellowstone”. Ian made his breakthrough as a child actor in the early 1990s, and has since built a successful acting career, having appeared in more than 50 movies and TV shows.
Early Life and education
Ian grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and attended Carlmont High School in Belmont. He showed an early interest in acting, and began taking classes when he was only six years old. He landed his first acting role at the age of 10 in a production of “Oliver Twist”.
Ian continued to appear in local theater productions throughout his teenage years, and in 1993 at the age of 16 made his film debut in the short drama movie “Delivering”, directed by Todd Field.
Acting career
In the following years, Ian appeared in several popular TV series, including “Walker, Texas Ranger”, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”, and “Boy Meets World”. His big break came in 1997, when he landed the role of Young Hercules in the TV series, “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”. Created by Christian Williams and developed by Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, who had previously worked together on the film “Evil Dead II” and the TV series “Xena: Warrior Princess”, it’s set in a fantasy version of Ancient Greece, and followed the legendary adventures of the titular hero (played by Kevin Sorbo) as he battled monsters and helped people in need.
Despite appearing in only four episodes of the show, Ian’s performance as Young Hercules was praised by critics and fans alike, and opened doors for him in the entertainment industry. In 1998, he appeared in an episode of the hit TV series, “Dawson’s Creek”, then had a recurring role in the Emmy-nominated teen drama, “Any Day Now”, from 1998 through 2001..

In 2001, Ian played a supporting role in the wartime drama film “Pearl Harbour”, directed by Michael Bay, and which starred Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale and John Hartnett. In the following years, he continued to appear in TV series such as “JAG”, “Joan of Arcadia” and “Mad Men”.
In 2010, he landed his first leading film role, in the thriller “Irreversi”, written and directed by Michael Gleissner, then in the following year Ian joined the cast of the popular MTV series, “Teen Wolf”, playing the role of Peter Hale, a werewolf who is the uncle of the series’ main character, Scott McCall. The series revolves around Scott’s struggles to balance his supernatural powers with his normal teenage life. Throughout its six years long run, “Teen Wolf” explored themes of identity, friendship, family, and the challenges of growing up. Ian’s performance in the series was praised for its intensity and dark humor. He remained a recurring cast member in the series until its final season which aired in 2017 – Ian reprised his role of Peter in the 2023 “Teen Wolf” spin-off TV movie.
Parallel to his work on “Teen Wolf”, Ian also appeared in other TV shows, most notably “Breakout Kings”, “Major Crimes”, and “Chicago P. D.”. He also has several film roles during this time – in 2012, he appeared in Christopher Nolan’s superhero action drama “The Dark Knight Rises”, in which he played a supporting role of a cop working with Officer Gordon.

One of the biggest TV series roles for Ian was in “Yellowstone”, which has been airing on Paramount Network since 2018. The show was created by Taylor Sheridan, who is known for his work on films like “Sicario” and “Hell or High Water”, and stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the patriarch of the Dutton family, who own and operate one of the largest cattle ranches in the United States. In the series, Ian played the role of Ryan, one of the workers at the Dutton Ranch. “Yellowstone” has both been a critical and commercial success, with a dedicated fan base and strong ratings. Aside from his acting work, Ian has written and directed two short movies, “Morning Love” in 2011, and “The Tow” in 2016. He’s also a talented photographe, who began taking photographs as a hobby while he was working on “Hercules”, and has since developed an admirable portfolio of works, which have been exhibited in galleries in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Bohen has also been involved in several philanthropic efforts. He’s a supporter of the American Heart Association, and has participated in several charity events to raise money for heart disease research. Furthermore, he’s an advocate of mental health awareness, and has spoken openly about his own struggles with depression and anxiety.
