From an early age, Spencer was drawn to the performing arts; his first love was guitar, but as he got older, he chose acting and comedy. He went to Crescent School, which is a Toronto boys’ independent school, after which he became a pupil at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where he started playing hockey for the team but also began to form his comedy routine with Second City.
