Selena Quintanilla-Perez Net Worth $25 Million

Selena was born to Marcella Ofelia Quintanilla and Abraham Quintanilla, Jr. From an early age, she started showing talents in music, which was spotted by her father. He opened a restaurant, and Selena started performing there with her brother and sister. However, it was soon closed, and her father became her manager, with Selena and her two siblings starting to tour under the name of Selena y Los Dinos. Soon she was brought into the spotlight, and started recording songs, which resulted in the LP “Selena y Los Dinos” (1984), released by Freddie Records. She continued to record music, and soon five more LP`s followed – “Alpha” (1986), “Munequito De Trapo” (1987), “Preciosa” (1988), “Dulce Amor” (1988), and “And The Winner Is…” (1987). All contributed somewhat to her net worth.

In 1989 Selena signed with the EMI Latin record label, and the same year she released her debut studio album, entitled “Selena Perez”. The album wasn`t as successful as was hoped, reaching only No. 7 on the US Regional Mexican chart, and failing to enter other charts.

However, Selena continued to pursue her passion, and in 1991, she released her second album, entitled “Ven Conmigo”, which not only that reached No. 3 on the US Regional Mexican chart, it also achieved double platinum certification, which increased her net worth to a large degree.

Her next studio release was even more successful, released under the name “Entre A Mi Mundo”, as it reached No. 1 on the US Regional Mexican chart, and it sold more than a million copies in the USA, further adding to her net worth.

Before her career ended with her death, Selena released one more album, entitled “Amor Prohibido”, which sold more than two million copies in US. The album also reached No. 1 on the US Regional Mexican chart, and No.1 on the US Latin chart.

The last studio album was released posthumously, several months after her death, entitled “Dreaming Of You”. This album sold more than seven million copies, reaching platinum certification several times.

She has also released three live albums, including “Selena Live!” (1993), and “Live! The Last Concert” (2001), and several compilation albums such as “MisMejoresCanciones – 17 Super Éxitos”, and “12 Super Exitos”, among others.

During her life, Selena also launched the clothing line Selena Etc.., and had opened boutiques in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, which also increased her net worth.

Selena made several film appearances too, showing her acting and singing skills in such productions as “Dos Mujeres, Un Camino” (1993), and “Sabado Gigante” (1994).

Thanks to her successful career, Selena received more than 60 awards for her work, including the Grammy Award for Best Mexican\American album, for her “Selena Live!” release. She was voted Female Vocalist of the year by Trejano Music Awards 11 times, and posthumously received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Speaking about her personal life, Selena was married to musician Chris Pérez from 1992 until 1995, when she was murdered at the age of 23 by Yolanda Saldivar, the founder of Selena fan club and a manager of her boutique who had allegedly been caught defrauding the fan club.
