Rob Ford Net Worth $50 Million
Born in Etobicoke, Canada, Ford was the youngest of four children of Douglas Bruce Ford, Sr. and Ruth Diane Campbell, who owned the company Deco Labels and Tags. During his younger years, he was very passionate about football and even dreamt of playing professionally. Ford attended Scarlett Heights Collegiate when he was in high school, and played with football team. During the summer, he attended football camps with the Washington Redskins and the University of Notre Dame to improve his skills. He subsequently registered at Carleton University studying political science, and joined the school’s football team. Unfortunately, he failed to play in any of the team’s games, and then dropped out of uni after a year.
Ford decided to work in his family’s company, and filled a sales position. He also continued his passion for football, and decided to work as a high school coach. In 2001, he served as coach at Newtonbrook Secondary School for one year, and later on at Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School for 12 years. The early years of his career were filled with controversy, but still helped him achieve his wealth.
Ford initially ran for office in 1997 but was unsuccessful, then in 2000 entered public service and served as city councillor for Ward 2 Etobicoke North. He was re-elected twice until 2010, but although lasting in the seat for 10 years, his service was filled with controversy, allegedly for use of illegal substances.
Despite the scandals, Ford decided to run for mayor of Toronto in 2010, and won. He served as the city’s 64th and received major support from the outer suburbs of the city. After a few years as Mayor, scandal plagued Ford once again when he was secretly recorded smoking crack. He decided to enter GreeneStone, a rehab facility in Ontario to clean-up his act, then in 2014 decided to once again to run for mayor, but felt ill, and doctors diagnosed him with pleomorphic liposarcona, a rare form of cancer. Despite undergoing chemotherapy and surgery, on 22 March 2016, he passed away at the age of 46.
In terms of his personal life, Ford married his high school sweetheart Renara Brejniak in 2000, and together they had two children.
