Richard Stuart Linklater was born on 30 July 1960, in Houston, Texas USA, and is a filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter, best known for his film work including “Slacker”, “Dazed and Confused” and the “Before Sunrise” Trilogy. He also created “School of Rock”, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Linklater attended Huntsville High School, then transferred to Bellaire High School during his senior year. After matriculating, he attended Sam Houston State University, playing baseball in the school before dropping out to work on an oil rig, during which time he developed a habit of reading novels and later films when he returned. He then realized he wanted to be a filmmaker, buying equipment and moving to Austin, Texas. In 1984, he attended Austin Community College to study film.

The following year, Richard created the Austin film society, and would work on several short films using various techniques. He eventually made his first feature film entitled “It’s Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Books” which took two years to complete. Afterwards, he would create Detour Film production, and would make “Slacker” with a budget of only $23,000, which became highly successful and grossed $1.25 million. He became an independent film star, and would create his second film “Dazed and Confused” which was based on his years at high school, again becoming successful, and grossing $8 million which considerably helped his career and that of actor Matthew McConaughey. In 1995, he would create the film “Before Sunrise”, which would win him a Silver Bear for Best Director Award. The following year, he would lend his voice to the animated film “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America”, however, in 1998 his attempt to make his first Hollywood film “The Newton Boys” which did not prove successful.

Later on he would make rotoscope films including “A Scanner Darkly” and “Waking Life”. He also created several mainstream comedies, including “Bad News Bears” and “School of Rock”, all of which would achieve a significant amount of success. He was later nominated for an Academy Award for his films “Before Sunset” and “Before Midnight”. In 2006, he created the film “Fast Food Nation”, an adaptation of a book of the same name, which drew mixed reviews, and he would later create “Me and Orson Wells” which became successful. In 2014, he released the film “Boyhood” which would gain critical acclaim including a perfect 100 score from Metacritic; the film co-stars his daughter. Afterwards, he would create a spiritual successor to “Dazed and Confused” entitled “Everybody Wants Some!!”
For his personal life, it is known that Richard had a daughter – Lorelei Grace Linklater – with wife Christina Harrison, who would become an actress, starring in “Boyhood”.
