Nicole Renee Taylor was born on the 5th March 1975, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA, and is a former supermodel, best known to the world for becoming the youngest model to feature on the cover of the magazine Seventeen, at only 14 years old. She has also graced other magazines, including Vogue, Sports Illustrated among many others. Her career started in the late 1980s.

Niki is the middle daughter born to Barbara and Ken Taylor. Her younger sister died in 1995 from a rare heart condition called right ventricular dysplasia (RVD). She grew up in Pembroke Pines, Florida and went to Cooper City High School. However, her education was interrupted by her career, once she signed a contract with Irene Marie Models in South Florida.

While on one set at the company she met photographer Jean Renard, who then became her manager. Niki won at the Fresh Faces contest held in New York City, which granted her a $500,000 modeling contract. She struck the world in 1989, when at only 14 years old she appeared on the cover of the Seventeen magazine, and just a year later featured on the Vogue cover. In 1992, she signed a contract with CoverGirl, becoming the first spokesmodel of the cosmetic brand to be younger than 18. After signing the contract, Niki started modeling for some of the most famous brands, including Liz Claibone, Ellen Tracy, Nokia, L’Oréal, and Pantene, among others. 1996 was her most successful year, since she graced the covers of six women’s fashion and fitness magazines, Allure, ELLE, Marie Claire, Shape, Vogue and Self, all in the same month. The next year, Niki had her own photoshoot for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and also in 1998. Furthermore, she was the cover model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit calendar for 1998 year .That wasn’t the end of her success, since Sports Illustrated released three videos of her photo-shoots, each for a year from 1997 until 1999.

Apart from modelling she has had success in several other business areas, including television, and creating her own clothing and fragrance lines.

She was a co-host of the show “Make Me a Supermodel”, with Tyson Beckford, and also participated in the show “The Celebrity Apprentice”.

Niki opened her own clothing store, called Abbie and Jesse’s in Franklin, Tennessee in 2005, with the help of her manager Lou Taylor. The same year she launched her first fragrance “Begin by Niki Taylor”, and has founded the Begin Foundation for the Advancement of Women in Business.

Regarding her personal life, Niki has had ups and downs throughout the years; she married to Matt Martinez just a few months after high school matriculation in 1994, but two years later they divorced; she had two children with him.

Since 2006 she has been married to NASCAR driver Burney Lamar, and the couple has two children.

Back in 2001, Niki went through a life-threatening experience; she suffered a car accident, while she was in a car with her then boyfriend Chad Renegar. She had a collapsed lung and serious liver damage, while also two steel rods were implanted in order to hold her spine together. She spent a month and a half in a coma, and another month in bed, unable to move. According to reports she went through 56 operations and physical therapy in order to recover.
