Who is Nathaniel Buzolic?
Nathaniel Buzolic was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on 4 August 1983 – his zodiac sign is Leo, he holds Australian nationality and is of Croatian descent. He’s an actor with more than 20 credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of the supporting character Harold ‘Hal’ Doss, in the critically acclaimed 2016 biographical historical movie “Hacksaw Ridge”. It was directed by Mel Gibson, starred Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington and Luke Bracey, and follows the Army Medic Desmond T. Early life and education
Nathaniel was raised in Sydney by his parents, about whom nothing’s known as he respects their privacy; it’s said that his mother is a retired nurse, and that his father was a doctor. Because he hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, most people believe Nathaniel to be an only child.
He became interested in acting while studying at the high school De La Salle College, Ashfield; Nathaniel was a member of its drama club, and appeared in various plays performed both at the school, and at a local theatre. He switched to Australian Theatre for Young People when he was 15, and matriculated in 2001.
Nathaniel then enrolled at Screenwise Acting School for Film and Television, and during his time there launched his acting career, with his portrayal of Paul Chalmers in a 2002 episode of the long-running romantic drama series “Home and Away”, while he then played Damon Lloyd in the 2003 episode “Friend in Need” of the drama “All Saints”.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003.

Nathaniel made his debut film appearance with his portrayal of Younger Driver in the 2007 short comedy “Road Rage”, and the same year saw him as Coach in the short family drama “My Greatest Day Ever”.
In 2008, he was cast to play David in the crime mystery “Offing David”, directed by Jeffrey Michael Bays, and which co-starred Adam J. Yeend, Richie Harkham and Asha Dahya. The film follows several friends who are looking a lost mobile phone which is being passed around, without knowing that the phone’s owner is dead. A couple of Nathaniel’s following roles were in the 2009 short comedy “Multiple Choice”, the 2010 mystery horror thriller “Needle” and the 2015 short musical comedy “Significant Mother: Jimmy Loves Your Mamma”.

In 2019, we saw him play Jason in the popular mystery crime drama “Saving Zoe”, directed by Jeffrey G. Hunt, and which starred Laura Marano, Vanessa Marano and Chris Tavarez. The movie follows a teenager whose sister Zoe has been murdered, while she’s now found her diary that could point to the killer.
Two of Nathaniel’s most recent film roles have been in the 2020 action science fiction horror “Deep Blue Sea 3” and the 2021 short drama “Making Peace”.
Roles in TV series
In 2008, Nathaniel made a guest appearance in an episode of the comedy “Undercover Coach”, and the same year saw him appear as Paul O’Donnell, in the drama “Out of the Blue”; the series also starred Sophie Katinis and Renai Caruso, and follows more than 10 people who are attending a school reunion in Manly, Australia while one of them has now been murdered; it was nominated for a single award.
Nathaniel played Jahrryde in the 2010 episode “A Veil of Tears” of the crime drama “Cops LAC”, and Jesse Major in a 2011 episode of the crime drama “Crownies”. Between 2012 and 2014, he played Kol Mikaelson in the popular fantasy horror drama “The Vampire Diaries”, created by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, and which starred Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. It follows the people and various creatures living in the city Mystic Falls in Virginia – the series aired from 2009 to 2017, and won 37 of the 104 awards for which it was nominated.
Some of Nathaniel’s following roles were in the 2014 episode “Bloodlines” of the fantasy horror drama “Supernatural”, the 2015 episode “The Teacher in the Books” of the crime comedy drama “Bones” and nine episodes of the comedy “Significant Mother” in 2015.
Most recently, between 2013 and 2018, Nathaniel reprised his role as Kol Mikaelson from “The Vampire Diaries” in the fantasy horror drama “The Originals”, created by Julie Plec, and which starred Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt. In 2013, he started dating Hayley Clair Stewart, an Australian costume designer who has worked on more than 10 popular movies and TV series, including the 2014 adventure comedy film “Into the Woods” and the 2017 action adventure movie “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”. Nathaniel and Hayley split after several months.
He started dating the French non-celebrity girl Lorna Lalinec in 2014; he was vacationing in Paris, France and noticed her at a café, and as he has explained in an interview, she was the most beautiful girl there, and he decided to approach her.
It turned out that she didn’t speak English, while he can’t speak French; they still managed to find a way to communicate, and went on to maintain their long-distance relationship for five years, during which she often travelled from Paris to Los Angeles, California to visit Nathaniel, while he occasionally came to Paris. They broke up in 2019.
As of December 2021, Nathaniel appears to be single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Nathaniel is highly active on Instagram, and seems to be enjoying the attention which he’s receiving from his close to three million followers. He’s uploaded more than 1,000 pictures onto the network, most of which feature him during his everyday life.
Summer is his favorite season, as he loves going yachting, swimming in the ocean and playing beach soccer and volleyball.
His acting career has taken him to various US states and European countries – his favorite city is Paris.
He has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Eddie Redmayne, Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, while a couple of his favorite movies include “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, “Bruce Almighty” and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
