Who is Natasia Demetriou?

Natasia Charlotte Demetriou was born in London, England, on 15 January 1984 – her zodiac sign is Capricorn, and she holds both British and Cypriot nationality. She’s an actress, film writer and a make-up artist, who has appeared in close to 30 movies and TV series, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of the lead character Nadja, in the fantasy horror comedy series “What We Do in the Shadows”. It was created by Jemaine Clement based on the eponymous movie, and also stars Kayvan Novak and Matt Berry; the series follows three vampires who are living together on Staten Island. It’s been airing since 2019, and has won seven of the 65 awards for which it has been nominated, including 10 Primetime Emmy nominations.

Early life and education

Natasia was raised in London alongside her younger brother Jamie Demetriou, by their Greek-Cypriot father and their British mother; not a lot is known about her parents, as she respects their privacy, but Natasia’s brother is today a famous British actor and comedian, and has appeared in over 60 movies and TV series, perhaps known best for his portrayal of Bus Rodent, in the 2016 comedy series “Fleabag”.

Natasia became interested in acting and comedy while attending a local high school, mostly because her brother had already launched his career in the film industry. She also became interested in doing make-up during her four years there, and often helped her friends with their looks.

Upon matriculating in 2002, she enrolled at University of Leeds, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in acting in 2006, then Natasia continued her education at the University of Bristol, and was a member of its comedy sketch troupe Bristol Revunions.

In the same year, she portrayed Tash in all 12 episodes of the comedy “Year Friends”, which follows the lives of six friends. Natasia then returned to guest starring, and could’ve been seen featured in single episodes of the series’ “Comedy Playhouse”, “Comedy Blaps” and “Sick Note”.

In 2018 and 2019, Natasia played Sophie, the main character in the critically acclaimed comedy “Stath Lets Flats”, which also starred her brother and Al Roberts, and follows the lettings agent Stath, who’s working for the company Michael and Eagle; the series won three of the seven awards for which it was nominated.

Two of Natasia’s most recent TV roles have been in a 2020 episode of the comedy “Reasons to Be Cheerful with Matt Lucas”, and five episodes of the comedy talk-show “This Time with Alan Partridge” in 2021.

She made her debut film appearance with her portrayal of Office Worker in the 2014 short musical comedy “Swag”, while in the same year she then starred in the short comedy drama “Intervention”, then the 2015 short comedy “Mr Bean: Funeral”, and the 2017 short comedy “Liam Williams’ Valentine”.

In 2018, Natasia was cast to play Bride Smurf in the popular romantic musical comedy “The Festival”, directed by Iain Morris, and which starred Joe Thomas, Hannah Tointon and Hammed Animashaun.

In 2021, Natasia won a Critics Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Series, for her performance in “What We Do in the Shadows”.

She has also been nominated for two IGN Summer Movie Awards, an Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Film Saturn Award, and a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award.

Love life and relationships

Natasia is highly secretive when it comes to her love life, and hasn’t mentioned any men or women whom she has perhaps been with. This is mostly why there are rumors circulating the internet concerning her sexual orientation, and her current relationship status.

Some of her fans have started rumors on the internet, which claim that the popular actress is lesbian; a fan has even claimed to have seen Natasia kissing a female friend, who is perhaps her girlfriend, but no evidence has been provided to support these claims, nor has Natasia commented on this.

There are also those who believe that she’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity British man, but prefers to keep the relationship away from the media’s attention; this hasn’t been confirmed either.

As of September 2021, Natasia seems to be single, hasn’t married, and doesn’t have children.

Natasia’s passionate about travelling, and her career as an actress has taken her to various European countries, as well as to a couple of US states, such as New York, Florida and California; her dream travel destination is Tokyo in Japan.

She likes to listen to music, and her favorite performers are Christina Aguilera and Ed Sheeran.

Natasia’s a dog-lover, and her three pet dogs can be seen featured in a picture uploaded onto her Instagram fan account.

She’s a fashionista, and tries to keep up with all of the latest fashion trends.

Natasia has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Orlando Bloom, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts – a couple of her favorite films are the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Titanic” and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
