Who is Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey?
Àstrid was born in Barcelona, Spain, on 26 May 1986 – her zodiac sign is Gemini, and she holds both Spanish and French nationality. She’s an actress and model, with more than 20 acting credits to her name, while she’s probably known best for her portrayal of one of the lead characters The Mage in the 2017 action adventure movie “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”. Early life and education
Àstrid was raised in Barcelona alongside her two younger sisters, by their French-American mother and Spanish father; not a lot is known about her parents, as she respects their privacy, also they divorced when Àstrid was only two years old, and she moved with her mother to La Rochelle, France when she was five.
It was at the age of six that Àstrid began appearing in plays performed at her elementary school, however, as she lived in the countryside, she didn’t consider a career in the film industry while growing up. Her father eventually moved to the Dominican Republic, and Àstrid spent several summers working there as a waitress.
She was 17 when she moved to Paris, France, wanting to practice osteopathy, however, her father died not long after that (aged 46), and Àstrid then began thinking more clearly about her life, realizing that acting was indeed her true calling.
Upon matriculating in 2004, she enrolled at drama school, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2007.
Roles in TV series
Àstrid made her debut TV series appearance in 2007, when cast to play Marie Sertissian in three episodes of the crime drama “Sur le Fil”, and the following year saw her play the lead character Isabel Jeune in the drama mini-series “Elles et Moi”.
Àstrid’s appeared in only two other TV series. In 2020, she portrayed Dagny and Zoe in the episodes “L’égarée”, “L’oubliée” and “Epilogue” of the popular mystery horror drama “Calls”; it’s been airing since 2017, and today stars Timothée Hochet, Anaïs Demoustier and Jacques Courtès – it follows various messages left on airplanes’ black boxes, tape recorders and answering machines, which reveal that an apocalypse is at hand.
Most recently, in 2021, Àstrid played Eva Sallaberry in the episode “La Cité des Ames en Peine” of the crime comedy drama “Captain Marleau”, created by Elsa Marpeau, and which stars Corinne Masiero, Aymeric Demarigny and Jean-Claude Drouot. It follows detective Captain Marleau, the series has been airing since 2014, and has been nominated for three awards.

Àstrid made her debut film appearance in the 2007 biographical historical drama “Divine Emilie”, and the following year saw her play Suzanne, one of the main characters in the drama “Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique”. It was directed by Rithy Panh, also starred Isabelle Huppert and Gaspard Ulliel, and follows a woman whose children have asked for independence; the movie was nominated for a Rome Film Fest Golden Marc’Aurelio Award.
