Richard Melville Hall was born on 11 September 1965, in Harlen, New York City USA – if you want to make a statement with your upcoming big birthday party, you should definitely invite Richard Melville Hall to do the DJ’s part. It will probably cost you more than your car or even your house, but it will be worth every penny. In case you were wondering what we are talking about Richard Melville Hall is better known for his nick name Moby, a nickname associated with the famous Moby Dick, the author of this book was Richards great-great-great- granduncle Herman Melville.

So just how rich is  Moby? Sources estimate that he is one of the highest paid DJs, and has a net worth of over $30 million. Of course being a DJ is not the only talent this man has: he is a photographer, musician, singer, song-writer, actor producer, and restaurateur, a wide range covering more than 20 years in the entertainment industry.

Moby Net Worth $30 Million

Moby made him self known in the ’90s with his albums Moby and Play, the latter sold  more than 10 million copies world wide. Richard Melville has a great talent, his songs are unique, different and he is one of the most influential people of the ’90s that made electronic dance music popular in both the UK and America.

However, it didn’t go all that well for Moby, even though he did have an interest in music and learned to play classical guitar from the age of ten; the decision to live out of music came after he finished school and studied philosophy at university, from which he did drop out and became a full-time musician. Moby had to work on his music for all most ten years to receive attention, because the first four albums Moby (1992), Ambient (1993), Everything Is Wrong (1995) and Animal Rights (1996) weren’t as successful as he was expecting. After his fifth album success struck him really hard and rewarded him for all the hard work that he’d put in. To add to that, Moby often cooperated with stars like Guns N’Roses, Public Enemy, New Order, Britney Spears, Pet Shop Boys, Daft Punk, David Bowie, The Smashing Pumpkins and even Michael Jackson in co-writing producing or remixing their songs. The latter is perhaps the most significant, as Moby is particularly well known for composing and promoting dance music, as befits his reputation as one of the best DJs in both the UK and the USA.

In recent years he has contributed film scores, including to the “Bourne” series, “Heat” and “Tomorrow Never Dies”.

To add to Moby’s biography, little is known of his private life, except that he is a vegan and a strong supporter of animal rights, and that’s not all, as he has worked with lots of charities and causes such as Children and Aids, Human Rights, The Humane Society, War Sufferers United For Peace and Justice and many more. In 2004 he received an IMNF’s Music Has Power Award for dedication towards music therapy.
