Michio Kaku was born on the 24th January 1947, in San Jose, California, USA of American and Japanese descent. He is a scientist and theoretical physicist, who works as a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the City College of New York. He is also recognized as an author, as well as a TV personality, known for hosting TV series on the BBC, Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Science Channel.

Michio Kaku was born to parents who were interned during World War II in the Tule Lake War Relocation Center, California, where they met and welcomed his older brother. During his attending Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, Michio made a particle accelerator, and at the National Science Fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was spotted by Edward Teller, a physicist who gave him a Hertz Engineering Scholarship. Thus, he attended Harvard University, from which he graduated summa cum laude in 1968. Later, he went to the Berkeley Radiation Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley, from which he earned a PhD. in 1972.

Soon after he finished his education, Michio became a part of a research program at The City College of The City University of New York, with the main focus in quantum mechanics. He began to build his career, and eventually reached the Henry Semat Chair, and is currently working as a professor of theoretical physics at the City College of New York. Since the early days of his career, Kaku has been focused on developing the string theory, and alongside Keiji Kikkawa has written and published a first paper about the aforementioned theory.

However, Michio Kaku is best known as a TV personality, appearing in numerous science TV shows, on various channels, which has largely increased his net worth, and he has also released several books on the topic of popular science. His first book came out in 1987, entitled “Beyond Einstein: The Cosmic Quest for the Theory of the Universe”, and since then has released seven more books, which include titles such as “Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey through Parallel Universes, Time Warps, and the Tenth Dimension” (1994), “Physics of the Impossible: A Scientific Exploration into the World of Phasers, Force Fields, Teleportation, and Time Travel” (2008), “Physics of the Future: How Science Will Shape Human Destiny and Our Daily Lives by the Year 2100” (2011), and “The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance, and Empower the Mind” (2014), which is his latest release so far.

Michio has appeared in several documentary programs, which have science as the main topic, such as “Through the Wormhole” (2011-2015), “How the Universe Works” (2010-2014), “Prophets of Science Fiction” (2011-2012), “Horizon” (2002-2012), and many others, all of which increased his net worth.
Because of his accomplishments as a scientist, Michio has received several awards, including the Klopsteg Memorial Award in 2008.

Regarding his personal life, Michio Kaku is married to Shizue Kaku, with whom he has two daughters. In free time, he enjoys ice skating, and is also active on several social networks, including Twitter, on which he has more than 500,000 followers. His current residence is in New York City.
