Machine Gun Kelly was born on 22 April 1990 in Houston, Texas USA. The son of missionary parents, he moved a lot in his childhood, living for some time in Egypt. However, the family moved back to the US, and before settling in Denver, Colorado, the family lived in Chicago and Cleveland.
He lived with his father in Denver after his mother left the family, and he stopped talking with her, saying that he has no contact whatsoever. He attended Hamilton Middle School in Denver, but as he got older, he and his father moved to Kuwait, but still returned to the US for Kelly to finish high school, becoming a student at Shaker Heights High School.
Threatened with expulsion from high school, Kelly performed at Harlem’s Apollo Theater, and became the first rapper to take home the victory. At the start of his career, he was recording music in his home, setting up a small studio which he named “Rage Cage”.
His first on-screen appearance was on MTV2’s Sucker Free Freestyle and after several mixtapes such as his debut “Stamp of Approval” and “100 Words and Running”, he started making a name for himself. He signed a contract with the Bad Boy Records founded by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and in 2012 his debut album “Lace Up” was released, reaching No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and achieving gold status.
