Who is Luke Hemsworth?
Luke was born in Melbourne, Victoria Australia, on 5 November 1980 – his zodiac sign is Scorpio, and he holds Australian nationality. He’s an actor and producer, with over 30 acting credits to his name, perhaps known best for his portrayal of Actor Thor in the 2017 action adventure comedy movie “Thor: Ragnarok”, directed by Taika Waititi, and which starred Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Cate Blanchett. It follows Thor who’s been imprisoned on Sakaar, and has to find a way to escape to that he could prevent villainess Hela from destroying his world; the movie won six of the 55 awards for which it was nominated.
Early life and education
Luke was raised in Melbourne alongside his younger brothers Chris and Liam Hemsworth, both of whom are today famous actors, by their father Craig who was a social services counselor, and their mother Leonie (nee van Os) who was an English teacher.
Luke became interested in acting while attending a local high school, after his drama teacher asked him to appear in a school play; he was interested in a couple of other activities during his teenage years, including playing various sports with his peers, excelling in soccer.
Upon matriculating in 1999, Luke enrolled at National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2002.
Roles in TV series
Luke made his debut TV series appearance in 2001, when cast to play both John Carter and Nathan Tyson in the popular Australian romantic drama “Neighbours”, created by Reg Watson, and which finally starred Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher and Tom Oliver. It followed the people living in Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, the series began airing in 1985 (Luke left the cast in 2008), its final episode was in July 2022, and it won 26 of the 101 awards for which it was nominated.
Concurrently, Luke appeared in an episode or two of a couple of series, such as the family adventure “The Saddle Club”, the action crime drama “Blue Heelers”, and the drama “All Saints”.
The year 2012 saw him star as Shadow in all six episodes of the drama mini-series “Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms”; it also starred Callan Mulvey and Matt Nable, and followed members of two motorcycle clubs – the Comancheros and the Bandidos – as they’re facing off in a Sydney car park. The series was nominated for a Logie Award for Most Popular Miniseries or Telemovie.
Three of Luke’s most recent roles have been in the 2015 episode “Chris Hemsworth/Zac Brown Band” of the comedy “Saturday Night Live”, 24 episodes of the critically acclaimed mystery science fiction drama “Westworld” since 2016, and two episodes of the 2021 comedy “Young Rock”.
Roles in movies
Luke made his debut film appearance in the 2014 action science fiction mystery “The Anomaly”, written and directed by Noel Clarke, who also starred in it alongside Ian Somerhalder and Brian Cox. It follows former soldier Ryan Reeve who’s been taken hostage by the organization Anomaly, and who will be killed if he doesn’t learn why they want him dead in less than 10 minutes; the movie was nominated for an Edinburgh International Film Festival Audience Award.
A couple of Luke’s following roles were in the mystery crime thriller “The Reckoning”, the action crime comedy “Kill Me Three Times” both in 2014, and the 2015 horror science fiction thriller “Infini”.
In 2016, he voiced Travek in the action adventure drama “The Osiris Child”, written and directed by Shane Abbess, and which starred Kellan Lutz, Daniel MacPherson and Isabel Lucas. It follows a man and a child as they’re trying to prevent a global crisis in a futuristic world – the film was nominated for an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Hair and Make-up.

Three of Luke’s most recent roles have been in the 2020 mystery horror thriller “Death of Me”, the 2021 thriller “Asking for It”, and the 2022 action adventure comedy “Thor: Love and Thunder”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “Bosch & Rockit” and “Bad Hombres”.

Samantha gave birth to their daughter Holly in 2009, and their second daughter Ella followed in the following year; the couple has two more children – Harper Rose who was born in 2012, and Alexandre who was born in 2013.

Luke’s physically highly active, thus his muscular body; he has multiple training sessions at the gym every week, and often takes part in outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain climbing and cycling.
He seems to be enjoying the attention which he’s receiving from his close to 250,000 Instagram followers, and is thus quite active on the network, having uploaded over 1,000 pictures, the majority of which feature him during his everyday life.
He’s a huge dog lover, and his two pet dogs can be seen featured in some of his Instagram pictures.
Summer’s his favorite season, mostly because he enjoys swimming in the ocean, and is an avid surfer.
