Born Mathew Frazer Horne in Nottinghamshire, England, under the Virgo zodiac sign on 6 September 1978, the famed entertainer is 43 years old as of 2021. While in the university, Mathew met the actor Bruce MacKinnon, and a few years later they started writing material together.
Interests and Hobbies
Mathew likes watching comedy films and TV shows during his free time; his favorite entertainers are Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.
He likes traveling and has toured many European destinations with his favorite being London; whenever he tours a new place, the actor enjoys trying different cuisines – he likes Italian dishes.

Career
Career Beginning and TV Series Appearances
Mathew started his career in comedy in 2000, and soon teamed up with Bruce to create the Mat and MacKinnon comedy duo. They performed in the Edinburgh Festival for their first time during the same yea,r and he was noticed by Catherine Tate, an English writer, comedian and actress, who later took on Horne to appear in “The Catherine Tate Show.” Since then, Mathew has made many appearances in C. Tate Nan Specials – he reprised his role as Jamie in two of these special episodes in 2015. In 2003, Horne landed a starring role in “20 Things to Do Before You’re 30” by Channel 4, before he was selected to portray Ben, an atheist Religious Educator in the show “Teachers.”
In 2007, Mathew played a starring role in the sitcom “Roman’s Empire” by BBC. Later that year, he appeared in “The Kyle Show’ comedy sketches, which aired on ITV1, performing opposite Kylie Minogue, who played his assistant. He was later cast for a guest role in the second season of “Robin Hood”, before he landed his breakthrough starring role in British Academy Film Award-winning show “Gavin & Stacey” portraying Gavin Shipman – the show ran for three seasons from 2007 to 2010, and received numerous positive reviews. In 2008, he appeared in “Three Billy Goat Gruff”, before narrating “The Passion of Girls Aloud” by ITV2.
Mathew has since appeared in many other shows, including 2010’s “Worried About the Boy,” “Sinbad” (2012), and 2014’s “Agatha Raisin”, among others.
His most recent performances are as Young Mr Grace in 2016’s “Are You Being Served?” “Porters” (2017), and more recently in “Dad’s Army: The Lost Episodes,” in which he portrayed Private Walker.

Mathew made his film debut in 2004, when he appeared in “Vanity Fair” as Casino Boy before he was cast as Teen in 2005’s “A.W.” Subsequently, he appeared in 2006’s “Stingray” and “Trimming the Fat” in 2008, then Horne landed a starring role in “Lesbian Vampire Killers” in 2009. Between 2011 and 2015, he was seen in the films “Horrid Henry: The Movie”, “Breaking the Bank” in which he played Nick, and 2015’s “The Bad Education Movie” portraying Shaquille Fraser. His most recent role was in the short film “The Existential Hotline” (2020).
Collaboration with James Corden
James Corden is a famous actor, producer, comedian and singer, who has worked with Mathew for many years since he appeared in “Gavin & Stacey.” The duo presented 2008’s Shockwaves New Musical Express (NME) Award, and a section of 2009’s Comic Relief. They toured across the UK in 2008, performing stand-up comedy as they prepared for their “Horne & Corden” BBC sketch show. Mathew has dated several women in the past. As of now, he is romantically linked to Celina Bassili, an actress whom he met during the making of a “Gavin & Stacey” Christmas special in 2019.
The duo are engaged and are allegedly looking forward to marrying soon. Previously, the Nottingham-born actor was dating Evelyn Hoskins, and they were engaged. Evelyn is an English actress famous for her works in “Casualty and Holby City.” The duo parted ways for unknown reasons in 2018, confirmed when he was spotted publicly kissing his supposedly new girlfriend Celina. Fans thought that Horne had married Evelyn since he had been seen during an interview with This Morning wearing a flashy wedding ring, before they had parted ways.
In the past, Mathew had an affair with Charlotte Bilverstone, with whom he was seen together at a party in 2012. The duo met in 2011 according to Mirror.co – he approached her by giving her a napkin on which he’d scribbled his number.
She later called him, and they soon developed a connection and started dating. Mathew has also dated Laura Marling in 2011, actress Amber Le Bon in 2010, actress Sybilla Findley (from 2008-2010), and Fiona Daniel, a British actress, in 2008.
What would have been a fatal accident – according to the pub manager – turned out to be minor, when Mathew was struck by a train as he was going home from a nearby pub in Nottingham, near a pedestrian crossing. Fortunately, he was thrown back escaping the accident with a scratch and it wasn’t necessary to hospitalize him, however, he received medical attention from several paramedics who had already rushed to the scene.

Many wonder if Mathew is gay; he has liberal views towards gay people and believes that every person has a freedom to express his/her sexual orientation. During an interview with The Guardian (2009), he gave a contradictory answer when he was asked about his sexuality, saying ‘People often think I’m gay, and I quite like the ambiguity of that. I think we should be in a society where everybody is free and not suppressed by restrictive ideas about sexuality. So I would say I’m gay straight man or a straight gay, whichever one is semantically correct. I don’t want to have sex with men, that’s all…everything else about me is pretty gay.”
