Mark O’Meara Net Worth $11 million

Mark O’Meara was born to parents Bob O’Meara, a furniture wholesaler, and Nelda O’Meara, a dedicated housewife, and actually grew up in Southern California, although during his youth, his family travelled a lot across the country because of his father’s work selling furniture. Mark actually learned golf from his mother, and borrowed a set of golf clubs from her at age 13. He used to sneak onto the Mission Viejo Country Club near their house to play golf, but he later on became an employee of the club, and also went on to play for his high school golf team. In college, he was an All-American at Cal Long Beach State, and won the US Amateur in 1979, as well as the California State Amateur Championship. Mark lived in the same neighborhood as Tiger Woods, and the two played a lot of golf growing up.

Mark turned professional after graduating in 1980 with a degree in marketing. He won the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1984, and went on to win 16 events on the PGA Tour, including winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California a total of five times. Mark is known for accepting more golf invitations from outside the US than any other American golfer. He has won tournaments in Europe, South America, Japan, Dubai, and Australia. His best claim to fame was winning two majors, The Masters and the British Open, both in 1998 at the apparently old age of 41. This lucrative season was where he established most of his net worth and assets. He tried playing the Masters again in 2012, but rib injuries forced him to withdraw from the tournament.

Although his professional golf career established his wealth, Mark’s net worth can also be credited to many other sources. He was the brand ambassador for Lexus Golf, Allianz Global Investors, and Pacific Links International. He became involved in Golf Channel informercials, and advertised the golf product “Medicus”, a hinged swing trainer. As of early 2017, he is actively involved in his golf course design business, which includes on-site analysis and then construction, up to the final product itself.

In his personal life, Mark divorced to his former spouse of 29 years Alicia in 2007, with whom he has two children. He married Meredith Berkman in 2009, and inherited a stepson; they moved to a new residence in Houston. Mark is active in giving back to the golfing community; he is involved in the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, which supports scholarships for kids who work in golf. Mark enjoys fishing in his spare time.
