After graduation, Mark moved to Loganville, Georgia to work as the Minister of Music and Students at Center Hill Baptist Church. He started a youth band in each church he worked in as a way of involving students with music. Hall later served at the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, and in 1999 he formed the band called Casting Crowns, which was a student worship band at the start, with the other members at the time being Juan DeVevo (guitar), Hector Cervantes (guitar), Melodee DeVevo (vocals and violin), and Darren Hughes (production manager).
Two years later, Hall and Casting Crowns moved to McDonough, Georgia to work at the Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church, when Chris Huffman (bass guitar), and Megan Garrett (keyboard, vocals, accordion) joined the band, while in 2002, Andy Williams joined and completed the Casting Crowns.
