Instead of his hometown of Columbus, Louis was raised in Bellefontaine, 60 miles away. Since he was a small boy he was in love with snowboarding, and this resulted in a move to Vermont in his teenage years, in order to enroll at the Stratton Mountain School, a ski and snowboarding academy. There, he improved and learnt new snowboarding moves, dividing his time into three parts – studying, practicing, and competing in events.

He made his breakthrough in 2005 at the Australian Open, which is a part of the Burton Global Open Series, winning the gold medal in the Superpipe event. Throughout his career he has competed in the Burton Global Open Series, but failed to repeat his success, but still won five silver and two bronze medals, which certainly increased his wealth.

Slowly he started competing in differing competitions, and had his first success at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in 2007, when he won three silver medals in the superpipe event. The following year, he won his first gold medal on the US Snowboarding Grand Prix, at Killington in Superpipe, and the same year also won gold medals at Cooper Mountain and Tamarack Mountain in the same event. He continued to dominate on the grand prix circuit by winning gold medals in 2009 at Tamarack Mountain, 2010 at Copper Mountain, and in 2012 at the Mammoth event. He was the Grand Prix champion in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012, which increased his wealth to a large degree.

Louis has also been successful on the Winter Drew Tour, winning the tour in 2011 and 2012, and has three more gold medals won at tour events. When it comes to Winter X Games, he hasn’t had much success in Aspen, as he won bronze medal in 2011 and silver in 2014. However, he has been quite successful in the Winter X Games Europe – the games are held in Tignes, and he has won gold medals in 2011 and 2013, while in 2012 he was the recipient of the silver medal, and in 2010 won the bronze medal.

Back in 2010 he represented USA national team at the Winter Olympics held in Vancouver and ended being fifth in the halfpipe event.

Aside from snowboarding, Charlie introduced himself to the public in 2009, when he was partnered with Chelsie Hightower in the popular reality TV dance competition show “Dancing with the Stars”. The two were eliminated in the sixth episode.

Regarding his personal life, Vito is apparently still single and lives in Sandy, Utah, with his dog Gucci for company.

He is known for his charitable activities; he has held a charity event “Louie Vito Rail Jam”, through which he helps young riders who want to become professionals. Also, all profit from the event goes to the St. Vincent De Paul charity.
