Lorenzo Alejandro Mendoza Gimenez, born on the 5th of October, 1965, is a Venezuelan billionaire who became known as the part-owner and Chief Executive Officer of Empresas Polar, one of the biggest privately-owned companies in Venezuela.

So how much is Mendoza’s net worth? As of mid-2017, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $3.5 billion, acquired from the success of his company, most of which he inherited on the death of his father.

Born in Caracas, Mendoza is the son of Lorenzo Alejandro Mendoza and Leonor Gimenez Pocaterra. He attended Hun School of Princeton in New Jersey, and later on attended Fordham University, and graduated with a degree in industrial engineering. He went on to gain an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1993.

Mendoza is the third generation to control Empresas Polar -.his grandfather started the whole empire, beginning with manufacturing soap. Later on he moved to a beer line, and founded Empresas Polar in 1941. His father inherited the company, and Lorenzo later on took over upon his father’s death.

Empresas Polar has grown tremendously from being a small company that produces beer to an empire that manufactures every kind of food product. Empresas Polar is now known to produce products including pasta, corn oil, rice, ice cream, wine, soft drinks, mineral water and various kinds of snacks. It’s logo of a white polar bear also became an icon in Venezuela.

Empresas Polar is known to hold a total of 40 companies, with Polar Brew, Polar Foods, and Pepsi Venezuela as the most prominent ones. Polar Brewery is known to produce the famous ‘Polar’ beer; Polar Foods concentrates on the manufacturing of various food products; and Pepsi Venezuela is the company that fabricates several types of beverages. The overall success of the company has made Mendoza one of the richest and most well-known businessmen in Venezuela, and also increased his net worth immensely.

Mendoza is also known to invest in stocks – petrochemicals, hypermarkets, and petroleum. His various investments have also helped in raising his wealth.

In terms of his personal life, Mendoza is married to Maria Alexandra Pulido, and te couple has six children. Mendoza is also known to be a big fan of sports, including water skiing and snow skiing, baseball, tennis, and running. He is also a fan of Ibero-american contemporary history books.

Mendoza is known to support one of the largest charities in Venezuela: Fundacion Polar. Along with his family, they support the charity that is known to focus on children’s health, education and nutrition.
