He began his college career as a backup during his freshman year, but got onto the field after Vinnie Sunseri, his colleague, tore his ACL – Landon’s team went on to score a 52-0 victory. After that, he had an 89-yard interception for a touchdown against Tennessee, and by the end of the year he had 70 tackles. Subsequently, in his junior year Landon led the team with 98 tackles and was ultimately named a unanimous All-American.

Declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft, he was selected by the New York Giants as the 33rd overall pick, and signed a four year contract worth $6.12 million, with a signing bonus of $2.71 million, and so entered training camp. Landon made his professional regular season debut in a game against the Dallas Cowboys, and had four combined tackles. In October of the same year, he had his first career interception, in a loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. In late December, he had ten combined tackles and a pass, which was his career high. As of the following season, against the Dallas Cowboys Landon had six solo tackles and a pass, and in the following week had six combined tackles. In October 2016, he had a season-high nine solo tackles, and one assisted, and during the season was named Defensive Player of the Week, of the Month, and was selected for the Pro Bowl. As of the 2017 season, he scored 15 tackles in the 11th week of the championship, but during the 14th week, he sustained an ankle injury, so he had to leave a game against the Dallas Cowboys. He was named for his second Pro Bowl, but then suffered a fractured arm which ended his season.
