Early life, family, and education

Rasheeda Buckner – also known as ‘Georgia peach’ – hails from Decatur, Georgia USA; holds American nationality, and comes from a family of African-American descent. She celebrates her birthday on 25 May, which makes Gemini her zodiac sign. She was born in 1976, so as of 2022, her age is 46.

Rasheeda was raised by her mother Shirleen and her stepfather Herschell Harvell, alongside her half-sister Cheryl.

Rasheeda dreamed of becoming a famous singer while still a young girl, and as a teenager, she joined a girl hip-hop group. She was also into gymnastics, and played basketball in high school. Upon matriculating in 1994, Rasheeda didn’t go to college, but pursued her music career.

Rise to stardom

Prior to launching her solo career, as mentioned, Rasheeda was a part of the hip-hop trio Da Kaperz, quite famous across Georgia in 1998. Three years later, Rasheeda released her debut solo album “Dirty South”; some of the guests featured on her album were Nelly and Pastor Troy.

The album was not a big success as Rasheeda hoped, and only one single entitled “Do It” achieved some fame. Her second album, “A Ghetto Dream” was released in 2002, on which she refined her sound, featured bolder beats and faster rhythms, and it gained much more success than her first album.

In the following years, Rasheeda released the “GA Peach” album in 2006, followed by her fourth album entitled “Dat Type of Gurl” in 2007, and “Certified Hot Chick” in 2009. Before she quit her career as a rapper, Rasheeda released her last album “Boss Chick Music” in 2012, then three years later announced that she was retiring from music.

“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”

The reality-TV series followed the lives of elite men and women in Atlanta who were involved in the entertainment industry, and viewers could see all the dramas involving their family members, friends, love partners, and children. Besides Rasheeda, the series featured Karlie Redd and Mimi Faust, and began airing in 2012 – it had four award nominations, and won the MTV Movie + TV Award for Reality Royalty in 2019. The 10th season of the show is announced for November 2022.

Rasheeda made an appearance in the first season, and was subsequently seen in 159 episodes until 2021. She was introduced to the audience as an underground female rapper who struggled to break into the mainstream scene with help of her manager, who is also her husband.

Some of the most important and most commented upon events during her participation in the show was her argument with K. Michelle in the first season, which continued in season two. Then in the second season, Rasheeda discovered that she is pregnant, and when she said this to her husband, Kirk Frost, he told her to get an abortion, claiming that she had cheated on him, which caused problems in their marriage; before she found out that she’d conceived, Kirk cheated on Rasheeda with two non-celebrity women.

In the third season, the two reconciled after Kirk hosted an ‘apology party’, but their marriage was once again thrown into turmoil after Rasheeda found out that Kirk has fathered a baby with stripper, Jasmine Washington, which was revealed in the sixth season.

Speaking further of her television career, Rasheeda made appearances in the spin-off “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: After Party Live!”, and also in the specials “The Wedding”, “Dirty Little Secrets” first and second part, and “The Love Edition”.

Perhaps you didn’t know that Rasheeda made her acting debut in the 2002 drama “Mitr: My Friend”. She portrayed Ms. Grant in “Five Days in the ‘A’” in 2009, and in 2015, she was seen as Scrumptious in an episode of the series “Rosewood”. Most recently she was cast to play Ultra in an episode of the 2019 series “Tales”.

Love life and marriage with Kirk Frost

Rasheeda met her future husband through a mutual friend, and since then he’s been working as her manager – her second album was released under Kirk’s label, called D-Lo.

The two married in 1999, and their first son they named Ky was born on 4 October 2000. Their second son, Karter was born on 21 August 2013.

Their love story was an open book for fans of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”, so there’s almost nothing new to say about their marriage. Rasheeda said in one of her interviews that although they haven’t had the smoothest relationship, they have many reasons to celebrate their anniversaries.
