In 2011, he was also a part of the investment group that purchased the Philadelphia 76ers team in the National Basketball Association for $280 million. Blitzer, Art Wrubel, Adam Aron, and Jason Levien, among others, in what has proven to be a profitable business venture, if not necessarily in results on the court.

Joshua also has a keen interest in sports, and in August 2013, Harris and Blitzer led a group of investors in a $320 million purchase of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League, including the rights to the Prudential Center in Newark. After former English Premier League (EPL) soccer club Aston Villa’s owner Randy Lerner announced that the club was up for sale, Harris considered purchasing the seven-time English champions, but he bought an 18 percent of the stake in Crystal Palace, another EPL club, in late 2015 instead.
