Who is Jordan Cornette?

A former basketball player and nowadays well-known journalist, Jordan Cornette, was born under the zodiac sign of Aries on 31 March 1983, in Cincinnati, Ohio USA; he holds American nationality and his ethnicity is African-American. He’s perhaps known best as a college basketball analyst for the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) – which is a multi-national subscription-television channel – and as the host of the long-running sports program entitled “The Huddle”.

Early life, family, and education

Jordan was raised in Cincinnati by his parents, Joel Clifford and Christi Jenkins Cornette, alongside his brothers Joel and Jonathan.

Sadly, his brother Joel died on 16 August 2017 of coronary atherosclerosis; Joel was a former basketball player, and an assistant coach at Butler Bulldogs. After his death, Jordan and his family started The Joel Cornette Foundation, which helps to raise the American Heart Associate scholarship funds, and educates people about heart problems.

Jordan was devastated by his brother’s death, and in one of his interviews said: ‘Everything I do I carry my brother’s name, his legacy, and the high moral standing and character he had that represents our family name, that’s something I don’t take lightly.’

Jordan attended St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and upon matriculating in 2001, he enrolled at Notre Dame University (College of Arts and Letters), Indiana, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English in 2005.

Career

While he was at college, he began playing basketball for the university team Fighting Irish, and soon he was a Team Captain; Jordan played 126 games, and held the record for the most blocked shots. He was eligible for the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft in 2005 but pursued a career in broadcasting instead.

Jordan started his career as a producer and segment host for the Big Ten Network, where he spent over six years providing game commentary for Notre Dame, and then worked as a co-host on Kap&Co on ESPN1000, in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2015, he began working as the College Basketball Analyst for the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) Corporation, hosting The Jam, a local news program where he spent three years.

Jordan joined ESPN in 2018, and then in the following year helped launch the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Network, owned and operated by ESPN.

Jordan is currently hosting “The Huddle” on the ACC Network, is a co-host for Spain and Company on ESPN Radio, and also serves as studio host, studio analyst, and an ESPN commentator for the college basketball season.

Love life and relationships

There were various rumors concerning Jordan’s love life, however, he hasn’t spoken about his previous relationships, although it’s widely known that he has a son named Carter, with one of his ex-girlfriends, whose name he hasn’t revealed.

While he was working in Chicago, he met his future wife, Shae Peppler, an American sports journalist known as the WFLD Fox 32’s sports anchor and field reporter; the two worked together at “Campus Insiders”.

The two began dating sometime in 2014, and Jordan proposed to her on 18 June 2018, and the two married on 1 June 2019, on the 18th Lawn at Harbour Town Golf Links, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

In 2020, Jordan and Shae began working together as hosts of ESPN Radio’s GameDay on weekends, the first married couple to host a national ESPN Radio show. Shae commented on this, saying: ‘When we signed up to spend our life together, we didn’t know it would be every. single. aspect. of. life. That said, there’s no one that knows me better, who I can simultaneously laugh and fight with about the stupidity of a play call, or a good post-game interview.’

As of February 2022, the two have one child together; on 10 April 2021, Shae gave birth to their son, Joey Jackson Cornette.

Hobbies and other interests

Jordan is active on social media platforms – his Instagram account has been followed by over 7,500 people, while his Twitter has amassed over 15,000 followers. He mostly posts updates of his work, and some photos featuring his family members, his dog, and photos from his shows. He doesn’t have an official Facebook page.

Besides basketball, he enjoys playing golf, and in honor of his late brother Joel, he established an annual charity golf tournament in his hometown of Cincinnati.
