Jonathon started his career in 1973 when he joined WFON located in his hometown. At the age of 18, he then joined WOSH located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, before working as a DJ for WYNE (WHBY).

Later on, he would join KLIV, and then became the morning DJ at WYBR-FM (WXRX). He continued working for various radio stations which started to increase his net worth, then in 1980 he moved to Milwaukee to join WOKY, but a year later became the morning DJ of the Phoenix, Arizona station KZZB. During his time there, he did song parodies as well as prank phone calls, and his song parodies led to him releasing his first album entitled “Just Havin’ Fun”. The following year, Jonathon was hired by WLUP to do morning show broadcasts for both their FM and AM stations. He created songs such as “We’re All Crazy In Chicago”, and “The Moo-Moo Song” during his time there.

Brandmeier continued to be a part of WLUP until 1997 when there was a change in management, being part of the radio station for 14 years. He then took a few years off from work, returning in 2004 at KCBS –FM and staying for a year, before returning to WLUP in 2005 to host the morning show for the next four years. Around this time, he split his time between radio and playing with his band called The Leisure Suits, and embarked on what he called the “World Tour 2007”, but which he only played venues in the Chicago Area. In 2008, he released the CD set entitled “Larger Than Live” which is a recording of his Christmas show. His net worth continued to grow thanks to all of these opportunities.

In 2011, Jonathon then joined WGN Radio and would be part of the station for three years, moving to the online WGN.FM during his tenure, before the station finally shut down operations. One of his latest projects is being the midday host on Westwood One which lasted until 2016. He left the show due to dissatisfaction, with the network forcing him to take a conservative talk radio format.

For his personal life, it is known that Brandmeier has been married to Lisa Nicelli since 1982, and they have a daughter. He participates in various charity works, including supporting Pizzas For Patriots which sends pizzas to soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.
