Jon attended Jamesville-Dewitt High School, and matriculated in 1983, after which he enrolled at the University of Vermont where he studied engineering.

However, his love for music and drums took over; since an early age he had played drums and looked-up to some of the most successful drummers of the rock music scene, including John Bonham, Bill Bruford and Keith Moon, among others. While at University, Jon met Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon with whom he started the band Phish. He also left University of Vermont and alongside Trey Anastasio continued his education at Goddard College.

Parallel with his education, Jon worked on music, and Phish released its first album in 1989, entitled “Junta”, which was they released on their own, but after the initial success of the album, they signed with Elektra Records and the album achieved platinum status, which only increased Jon’s net worth and encouraged him and the rest of the group to continue to work together. The band continued to dominate the music scene through the ‘90s, with the albums “A Picture of Nectar” (1992), “Rift” (1993), and “Billy Breathes” (1996), all of which achieved gold status, adding a substantial amount to Jon’s wealth.

They split up in 2000, but before that, released their eighth album, “Farmhouse” (2000), which also achieved gold status. Phish reunited in 2002 and released two more albums before again going on hiatus in 2004, which lasted until 2009. Since then they are regularly on tour and in the studio, and most recently have released their 13th studio album “Big Boat”.

Jon has also collaborated with other bands; he is the drummer of the rock band Pork Tornado, and has also played with Jamie Masefield and his Jazz Mandolin Project, which has improved his net worth too.

Regarding his personal life, Jon is married to Briar with whom he has three children. Previously he was married to Pam Tengiris.
