Joe Kenda Net Worth $3 million

Joe grew up in a family of coal miners, with his grandfather passing away in 1933 due to a mining accident. Growing up, he was very fascinated with crime, specifically murder. He attended Greensburg Central Catholic High School and matriculated in 1964, and afterwards the University of Pittsburgh to study political science. After graduating, he then went to Ohio State University to earn a master’s degree in international relations, which he completed in 1970. He originally wanted to work with the Central Intelligence Agency as part of the Foreign Service, but didn’t continue.

He then briefly worked for his father’s trucking business, before moving to Colorado Springs in 1973. There, he started his career in the police force.

Kenda joined the Colorado Springs Police Department and worked his way up to eventually become a detective. He was a part of the CSPD homicide unit for most of his career, and eventually led his department. His net worth increased significantly thanks to his success. He solved a high 92 percent of assault cases, and is credited with being very good at determining if people were lying. One of his most notable cases was Dianne Hood who was murdered at a lupus support group meeting, a case heavily covered by the media. In 1993, he then moved to Falcon, Colorado after his wife insisted that he should stop working, and retired three years later. He then worked as a special needs school bus operator, but apparently didn’t enjoy his new job very much.

In 2009, Patrick Bryant met Joe and would interview him for a planned TV crime series. Eventually, he decided to invite Joe to create a series focused on his career as a homicide detective. Eventually, the idea was picked up by Investigation Discovery the following year and would go into production in 2011. He’s well known for not using a script, and the show would become very popular, increasing his net worth even more. A younger version of him was portrayed by actor Carl Marino. The show has been running for more than seven seasons, and is now aired internationally.

For his personal life, it is known that Kenda married Mary Kathleen Mohler in 1967 and they have two children. They now reside in Suffolk, Virginia.
