José Manuel Figueroa Sr. was born on the 8th April 1951 in Julianta, Guerrero, Mexico, and he is best known to the world for being a Mexican singer, song writer, who composed hundreds of pop songs, and an actor. He is also recognized as the most awarded performer from Mexico in history of Grammy, in order to win seven Latin Grammy Awards and five Grammy Awards. His career was active from the 1970s until July of 2015, when he died.

Before he decided to pursue a career in music, Sebastian worked as an administrative assistant at a vacation resort in Oaxtepec, Morelos, meantime struggling to get the attention of the record labels. In 1968, Sebastian met Mexican actress Angelica Maria, and while together, Sebastian showed her his musical talents, after which she advised him to record his songs and to try to get in touch with Eduardo Magallanes, who was a music producer. Sebastian never managed to contact Magallanes, but moved to Mexico City regardless in order to pursue a career in music.

Finally, in 1974 he signed a contract with Discos Capitals Records, and soon released his first album, entitled “Pedro Parrandas”, which became highly praised by critics and the public as well. This encouraged him to continue to produce music, and in 1977 came his second release, entitled “Ya Las Mariposas”, which was released through the Musart record label. Since these first releases, his net worth was constantly growing, and with every successive successful release it increased a little bit more.

Overall, Sebastian eventually released over 40 albums, such as “Viva La Vida” (1991), “Afortunado” (2002), “Un Lojo” (2012), “Inventario” (2005), and his last release before his death “13 Celebrando El 13 (2013)”. Some of his albums were certified gold and platinum, including the 2000 album “Secreto De Amor”.
