Jim Morrison was the son of George Stephen Morrison, a USA Naval Officer, and Clara Clarke Morrison. He attended Alameda High School in Alameda, California, and later enrolled at the George Washington Middle School in Alexandria, Virginia. After graduation, Jim moved back to Florida to attend the Florida State University, but soon decided to transfer to the UCLA, from which he graduated with a degree in film, in 1965.
After graduation, Jim lived in a rooftop with his college friend David Jacobs, and started writing songs, some of which were later featured on The Doors` first album, including Hello, I Love You, Moonlight Drive.
