Although born in Columbia, she was raised in New York City, because her family moved there when she was three years old. She is the oldest of four siblings; her mother Kathleen Sue Nail, better known by her stage name Kate Capshaw, is a famous American actress and producer, and her biological father, Robert Capshaw, worked as a sales manager, marketing director, and high school principal.
Her parents divorced when Jessica was a young girl, and her mother married famous film director Steven Spielberg when Jessica was 15 years old.
From her mother’s second marriage Jessica has three younger half-sisters, Mikaela, Destry and Sasha Spielberg, who is also an actress, and two younger half-brothers, Sawyer and Theo Spielberg.
