Jerry’s mother was Italian, and his father Jewish, but other details of his early life are lacking.. He made his debut in the world of entertainment in the early ‘50s appearing with Bob Horn and Lee Stewart on “Bandstand”, aired through WFIL-TV. Just three years later Jerry was a manager of a national tour for Danny and the Juniors, while through 1958 and 1959 worked as a valet for Don Rickles. The following year his career on the radio began and since then he has become one of the most famous disk jockeys of all time. During the ’60 he had his own show which was syndicated in Camden, Trenton, Wilmington, Atlantic City, Allentown and Pottswon. He moved forward during the ‘60s since he was also a part owner of the Lost Nite and Crimson record labels.
