Jeff Keith grew up in Idabel, Oklahoma, where he went to Idabel High School, but then moved with his father to Sacramento, California. Along with Pete Pedri and his brother BK, Jeff formed the band called Troubleshooter and then joined the City Kidd in 1983.
In 1986, the band took the new name Tesla and released their debut studio album entitled “Mechanical Resonance”, which achieved platinum status in the US with over a million records sold, peaking at No. 32 on Billboard’s 200, while the singles “Modern Day Cowboy” and “Little Suzi” were among the most popular. Three years after, Tesla recorded “The Great Radio Controversy”, which achieved double platinum status, and reached No. 18 on Billboard’s 200 chart.
