Jay Dean Haas was born on 2 December 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri USA, and is a professional golf player, best known for previously playing on the PGA Tour. He started playing the sport professionally in 1976, and he now plays as part of the PGA Champions Tour, but has won nine times as part of the PGA. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Jay grew up in Belleville, Illinois, then attended Wake Forest University and was part of what Golf World considered “the greatest college golf team of all time”. He won the individual championship in 1975 and turned professional the following year.

As part of the PGA Tour, he won nine times from 1978 to 1993. He went off the radar for many years until making a resurgence in 2003, finishing in the money list for the first time as part of the top 30. He then made the US Presidents Cup team, and in 2004 was picked to be part of the Ryder Cup team by Captain Hal Sutton; he’s made a total of three appearances in the Ryder Cup. His net worth was built up over these years, and in 2004 he became eligible for the Champions Tour (PGA Tour Champions). In his first appearance at the tour, he lost by one stroke at the Senior PGA Championship, but still appeared as part of the Official World Golf Ranking’s top 20. The following year, he won back to back events on the Champions Tour, winning at the Senior PGA Championship, claiming his first senior major – he was named Champions Tour Player of the Year.

In 2009, Jay then won the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn. Later in the year he won his third senior major and 14th Champions tour event. His next win would come in 2012 at the Principal Charity Classic, before in 2016 winning the Toshiba Classic, making him the second oldest player to win a PGA Champions Tour event behind Mike Fetchick.

Haas has won the Bob Jones Award which is the highest honor given by the United States Golf Association. He also received the Payne Stewart Award and Murray Award for his cooperation with the media. He’s played the PGA Tournaments a total of 592 times, more than any other player.

For his personal life, he is married to Jan, and currently resides in Greenville, South Carolina.
