Hobbies, favorite things and interesting facts
Jason is the only actor who has been in three ShondaLand shows’ main cast list – he plays Ben Warren in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19” and Dr. Otis Cole in “Off the Map.” Martin Henderson co-starred alongside Jason in both “Off the Map” as Dr. Benjamin and “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Nathan Riggs; whereas Jay Hayden co-stars alongside Jason in “Station 19” as Travis Montgomery, and played Danny Yoon in “The Catch.”
Some “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Friends” fans like to think that Jason’s characters in the two shows are the same person – one of the theories is that he started out as a firefighter and eventually found his way back to that career in “Station 19.” One of the plot holes with the theory is that in “Grey’s Anatomy,” when he began considering his career change, Dr. Ben shared his fear of fire. However, that could also be explained away by pretending that something traumatic happened on the job that made him scared of fire, and so switch to anesthesiology. One of the “Station 19” writers is a “Friends” fan, and often speaks about Jason’s episode. He told TV Guide, ‘One of our writers loves that episode, and can say it exactly with the intonation that Lisa Kudrow did it. It literally transports me back like a decade as I crack up laughing whenever she does it.” Viewers are hoping that the production, cast and crew are going to get Lisa to guest-star in one of the “Station 19” episodes.
- Jason’s favorite episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” are “Sanctuary” and “Death and All His Friends”, which are both shooter episodes.
- In an interview, he shared that he considers Jackie Robinson as his hero.
- He once jumped across a hotel balconies seven stories up to get to the adjacent room.
- When asked if there is anything about Ben that is similar to his own life, Jason said that both himself and his character have strong and amazing wives.
- Jason is a huge fan of the series “Game of Thrones” – his favorite characters are Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. Particularly because they were both ‘nobodies’ who became royals after working hard and being badasses.
- If Jason could attend a dinner party with any fictional character, he would choose Daenerys.
