Some of the early movies he appeared in during the early 1980s included “The Warriors”, “The Prize Fighter”, “The Exterminator”, “Friday the 13th” and “The Private Eyes”. In 1981, Keyes’ career took a turn for the better when he appeared in the television series “The Jefferson”. His role as Hugo Mojelewski the bodyguard became one of his most popular roles ever, and even earned him the catchphrase “Hi! Keyes regularly appeared in movies his entire career. Unfortunately, in 2015 Irwin Keyes passed away at the age of 63 due to complications from acromegaly. He died at the Play Del Rey Center in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Tracy, by his side.

In terms of his personal life, Keyes was married twice. His first married with Victoria Rosenthal but the marriage ended in divorce. His most recent relationship was with Tracy Fontaine who he married in 2008, parted only by his death.
