Who is Ross Perot Jr?

An American businessman, Henry Ross Perot Junior, is perhaps known best for his development of an inland port near Dallas, Texas USA called AllianceTexas, a planned community that includes parts of the cities of Roanoke, Haslet, Northlake, Westlake, Denton, and Fort Worth; there are over 10,000 single-family homes, within six communities, 200 hotel rooms, plus 2,100 apartments units.

Ross Jr is a businessman and real estate developer, also serving as the chairman of multiple companies, including Hillwood and The Perot Group.

Early life, family, and education

He was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio, on 7 November 1958, in Dallas, thus he holds American nationality and his ethnicity is White. He is the only child of Margot Birmingham-Perot and Ross Perot, an American billionaire businessman, and former US presidential candidate.

Ross Perot Senior ran an independent campaign in the 1992 US presidential election, however, he didn’t win any electoral votes, and then he ran for president again in 1996, when he won 8.4 % of the popular vote against then-President Clinton and Bob Dole, who was a Republican nominee.

There isn’t much known about Ross Junior’s mother, except that his father met her on a blind date. According to sources, she was the one who gave Ross Perot Senior a $1,000 check to start Electronic Data Systems, which he eventually sold to GM, netting $1.5 billion. The two were in marriage until Ross’ death in July 2019.

Speaking of Ross Junior’s educational background, he attended Saint Mark’s School of Texas, and upon matriculating in 1977, he enrolled at Vanderbilt University, from which he graduated with a BA degree in 1981.

Career

After graduating, Ross Junior served in the US Air Force for eight and half years, and in 1982, he co-piloted the first around the world flight by helicopter using a Bell 206 L-1 Long Ranger II, completing the circumnavigation on 30 September 1982.

Ronald Reagan, who at that time served as The President of the US, presented Ross Junior with the Gold Medal Award for Extraordinary Service, and in the following year, he was the recipient of the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement.

In 1996, Ross Junior purchased the Dallas Mavericks, the National Basketball Association (NBA) team from Don Carter, however, under his tenure, the team made no more progress on the court than they had in Carter’s final seasons; many fans commented that Ross Junior had no interest in the sport, and that he has used his position as the team owner only to front his projects. In January 2000, he sold the team to Mark Cuban, an American billionaire entrepreneur, for $285 million.

During 2002 and 2003, Ross Junior served as a chairman of the Texas Governor’s Task Force for Economic Growth, and in 2007, presidential candidate Mitt Romney selected him as a member of his Texas finance committee.

Ross Junior was also a member of the Board of Directors for Dell Incorporation, an American multinational technology company that develops and sells computers, among other items. Currently, Ross Junior is the Chairman of the US Air Force Memorial Foundation, located in Virginia, and Co-Chairman of the EastWest Institute. He’s also a member of the Board of Trustees of Vanderbilt University, Saint Mark’s School of Texas, and Southern Methodist University.

His real estate development company Hillwood is estimated to exceed 42 million square feet, and the company has developed and acquired more than 200 million square feet of industrial space and 90 residential communities, while Alliance Texas is home to 61,000 employees and 525 companies.

In 2021, Ross Perot Junior’s company Hillwood, developed Frisco Station, a 242-acre new urban destination in the heart of Frisco, North Texas, which features office, medical space, residential, restaurant, and retail. There is also a luxury hotel, near the Ford Center, a stadium that serves as the new Dallas Cowboys training facility.

Wife and children

Although it isn’t clear how and when Ross Junior met his future wife Sarah Fullinwider, it’s known that the two celebrated their 36th anniversary in 2021 – on 26 November, they hosted the Crystal Charity Ball’s Circle of Angel’s dinner with a private viewing of Legacy Hall at the Ross’ companies headquarters campus in Dallas. The Legacy of Hall is a remarkable museum of historical photos and artifacts from the business, military, political and philanthropic careers of Ross Perot Senior.

His wife Sarah is the president of the Sarah and Ross Perot Jr. Foundation, and is an active philanthropic and civic leader. Her LinkedIn profile shows that she graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA degree in Journalism/Broadcast Film.

She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of this university, and also serves on the executive boards of Dedman College, John Tower Center for Political Studies, and the Meadows School of Arts. In 2010, Sarah received The Arts Community Alliance (TACA) Silver Cup Award for outstanding contributions to the arts in North Texas.

Sarah is a daughter of oil magnate, Jerry Fullinwider, who is the founder of Hillwood International Energy, the company that provides oil and gas exploration services across the US and the world.

Sarah and Ross Junior have four children together, namely Carolyn, Katherine, Nancy and Suzanne, about whom nothing is known since they prefer to keep their lives away from the media’s attention. However, in one of his interviews, for The Harvard Business School, Ross has spoken of how proud he is because all four of his daughters became educated and kind persons.
