Harlan Coben was born on the 4th January 1962, in Newark, New Jersey USA, of Jewish ancestry, and is an author of books of the mystery genre; his stories often involve cases of unresolved events in the past, such as homicides and fatal accidents. Coben is best known for writing the series of novels “Myron Bolitar” (1995 – 2016). He has been active in the industry since 1990.

After graduating, Coben worked in the travel industry at a company owned by his grandfather.

Concerning his professional career, his first book was accepted when he was 26, but after publishing two independent books in the 1990s (“Play Dead” in 1990 and “Cure Miracle” in 1991), he decided to change direction, and began a series of stories with the character Myron Bolitar. The books in the popular series chronicle the life of a former basketball player, Bolitar who often needs to investigate murders which somehow involve his clients. Coben won an Edgar Prize, a Shamus Prize and an Anthony Prize becoming the first writer to have received all three awards. He is also the first writer invited to write fiction for The New York Times, subsequently a tale entitled “The Key to My Father”, which appeared on the 15th June 2003.
