Eddie Izzard Net Worth $20 Million

Eddie is the son of English parents, Harold John Izzard, who worked as an accountant with British Petroleum in Aden, and his wife, Dorothy Ella, who was a nurse and midwife. Eddie spent his early years in Bangor, County Down, and Sekwen, West Glamorgan, Wales, where his mother died of cancer, which sent Eddie to boarding schools – over the years St John’s School in Porthcawl, Mid Glamorgan, St Bede’s Prep School, and Eastbourne College in East Sussex. He enrolled at the University of Sheffield where he studied to obtain an accountancy degree, but became interested in comedy with Rob Ballard, and the two started to pursue a career as comedians, and would often perform in Covent Garden, but only at street level.

However, the two split up, and Eddie continued on his own, performing his comedy routines in the streets of Europe, and the USA. He then returned to England, and made his debut at the Banana Cabaret in Balham, London. In the late ‘80s, he made his first appearance at the Comedy Store, which was also his first stage appearance, and started to attract attention after changing his comedy style and routines. Since then he has become one of the renowned English comedians, with numerous documentaries, for which he has won several awards, including two Primetime Emmy awards.

He also ventured into acting, and made his debut in 1994 in the film made for television “Open Fire”, and through the ‘90s appeared also in “Aristophanes: The Gods Are Laughing” (1995), “The Secret Agent” (1996), and the Academy Award- nominated “Velvet Goldmine” (1998), starring Ewan McGregor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Christian Bale, adding further to his net worth.

He started the next millennium with a role in the Academy Award-nominated horror “Shadow of the Vampire”, with John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe and Udo Kier in the lead roles, and then in 2001 starred in the comedy “We Know Where You Live”. In 2004 he appeared with George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts in the thriller “Ocean’s Twelve”, and repeated his role in “Ocean’s Thirteen” (2007). In 2005 he featured in the romantic comedy “Romance & Cigarettes” (2005), and then in 2007 was selected to portray Wayne Malloy in the TV series “The Riches” (2007-2008), which increased his net worth to a large degree.

In 2009 he appeared in the drama “Rage” (2009), and in 2011 starred in the film “Lost Christmas”, with Larry Mills and Jason Flemyng. The following year he played Johann Tannhauser in the TV Mini-Series “Bullet in the Face” (2012). Two years later he was the star of the biopic “Castles in the Sky”, and in recent years has featured in the films “Absolutely Anything” (2015), “Whisky Galore” (2016), and will feature in the drama “Victoria and Abdul” (2017), as Bertie, Prince of Wales. Furthermore, he will appear in his own film “Six Minutes to Midnight”, which is also set for release late in 2017.

Regarding his personal life, Eddie tends to keep his romantic relationships hidden from the media, but it’s known that he dated Sarah Townsend, a producer and director. However, Eddie is (apparently) a transvestite, and describes himself as a lesbian trapped in a man’s body.
