Edward G. Hochuli, the American lawyer and football player and referee, was born on 25 December 1950 to Walter and Mary Hochuli as the second child of six, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. He is of Caucasian ethnicity and is particularly famous as the celebrity referee in National Football League(NFL), and a noted lawyer, from which a major portion of his net worth comes from.

After taking the Bachelor of Arts degree,he also studied law at the University of Arizona and became a trial lawyer. He founded a law firm Jones, Skelton and Hochuli in 1983, and started his career as an attorney.

In 1989 he applied for a post in the National Football League (NFL) and was hired by them as a back – now field – judge in 1990. Here he got a chance to work under the famous referee Howard Roe. He performed so well that in 1992 he was promoted to the referee post by the league. Since then he has refereed many play-offs and championship games including two Super Bowls, and has become one of the most popular referees in the American Football history, receiving a fat salary of $149,000 per year which adds considerably to his net worth. He is also famous for his style of explaining the rules to the players on the football field. He is very lucid and concise while doing so, and spectators all over are huge fans of his style.

In his personal life, Ed is married to Cathie, and they have six children including son Shawn Hochuli also works as side judge and referee, as with his father. Another son Scott Hochuli runs a construction company. Two other sons Daniel and Peter work as town attorney and judge at Juvenile Court respectively.
