Dylan grew up in a musical family; his father was the bass player of the ‘80’s pop band The Kind, and is now the owner of Naperville Music, a store in Illinois that sells and leases music instruments. His brother Matt Gardner is a drummer and is featured on Dylan`s album “Adventures in Real Time”.

Dylan started his musical journey by playing drums, eventually picking up the piano and then guitar, all self- taught, and is also a pro tools engineer and a so-called bedroom producer. Gardener attributes his guitar playing to Jimmy Page, and his piano playing to Ben Folds. He was also drawn to ’60s and ’70s artists like The Beatles, Harry Nilsson, Beach Boys, Zombies and Bob Dylan.

In 2010, he moved to Arizona with his parents, where in his bedroom he built a make-shift recording studio, with his closet the vocal booth. His Baldwin piano was purchased at the Goodwill, and the rest of his equipment consisted out of a MIDI keyboard, laptop, and one drum machine.

Before releasing of his first full-length album, on the anniversary of their break up (10 April 1970) Gardner paid tribute to The Beatles, and used social media to promote the material. In April 2014, 44 years after The Beatles broke up, Dylan recorded 15-second clips of Side 2 of Abbey Road, and released the clips on Youtube, Twitter and Instagram, reaching over 6.7 million viewers.

Gardener’s debut album – “Adventures in Real Time” – was recorded in 2013 in his bedroom. The songs were written by Gardener, but produced by John Dragonetti and mixed by Michael Brauer. In the writing process, Gardener came up with over 100 songs, 10 of which made it onto the album, which was released in 2014, when Gardener was just 17. He released his lead-off track “Let’s Get Started”, on Spotify, and it soon reached more than 2.7 million plays. Some of the other album’s big hits are “Too Afraid To Love You” and “Invisible”. The album came out under Bingo master records but was reissued by Warner Bros. Records.

After the release of the album, Gardner moved to California “to be near everybody and to be where the action is.” He is currently working on a new album, stating it’s a blend of his “bedroom studio” approach and working in a real studio, owned by his new co-producer Mat Radosevich aka Mat Rad.

Regarding his personal life, Gardner is currently in a relationship with Molly Elizabeth O’Brien, a fashion designer who rose to fame competing in the second season of the Lifetime’s “Project Runaway”.
