Dwight David Yoakam was born on the 23rd October 1956, in Pikeville, Kentucky USA. Dwight is best known to the world as country musician, having released more than 25 albums so far. Although born in Pikeville, Dwight grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and was educated at Northland High School until 1974, where he showed his talents, participating in school shows, such as Flowers For Algernon and various others. Dwight enrolled at Ohio State University, but dropped out, as he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He moved to Los Angeles, and started to write and record his own songs, but also managing to find engagements in some punk and rock clubs in around LA.

Dwight`s debut release was the 1986 EP entitled “Guitars, Cadilacs, Etc., Etc.”, which Dwight paid for out of his pocket. In 1993 he was a truck driver in the film “Red Rock West”, but soon his acting career prospects improved, and he began to feature in bigger roles, some of which are in films such as “South Of Heaven, West Of Hell” (2000) – for which he wrote soundtrack as well – “Panic Room” (2002), “Hollywood Homicide” (2003), “90 Minutes In Heaven” (2015), and he is now to appear in the film “Boomtown”, which is scheduled for a release in 2016.

Regarding his personal life, little is known about Dwight in the media, however it is known that he was in a relationship with Bridget Fonda from 1999 until 2001.
