Drew Pinsky Net Worth $20 Million

Drew is the first born child of physician Morton Pinsky, and singer and actress Helene Stanton. He has a younger sister, Dana, who is a paralegal. From an early age Drew aspired to become a doctor; often accompanying his father on his on-call visits. He went to Polytechnic School and then enrolled at Amherst College, with a major in biology. He graduated in 1980 and then enrolled at the University of Southern California, School of Medicine, from which he obtained an M.D. in 1984.

Drew completed his medical residency at USC County Hospital, and after finishing his studies found work at Huntington Memorial Hospital in his hometown of Pasadena as chief resident. After a couple of years, he opted for private practice.

His career in the media actually started in 1984, during his medical studies; he joined KROQ-FM and became a part of the “Ask a Surgeon” segment of the show that was hosted by Jim “Poorman” Trenton and Egil Aalvik. Soon the show became known as “Loveline”, and Drew became the lead host of the show. In 1995 “Loveline” was picked up by MTV, and Drew’s exposure on screen significantly benefited his career. He stayed on the show until 2016, which increased his wealth to a large degree.

So Drew was becoming a celebrity doctor, and soon after several other shows followed, such as “Strictly Sex with Dr. Drew” (2005), “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” (2008-2011), then “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers” (2011-2014), and one of his most notable shows “Dr. Drew On Call” (2012-2016), all of which added considerably to his net worth.

His skills were also represented in several other reality and variety shows, in which he served as guest host or specialist; some of the shows have included “Big Brother” (2000), “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (2003-2011), “Entertainment Tonight” (2007-2017), “16 and Pregnant” (2010-2012), “Teen Mom” (2010-2016) and “Rachel Ray” (2015-2017), further increasing his wealth.

Aside from TV and radio, Drew also managed to expand his kingdom to online media; back in 1999, he founded DrDrew.com with Curtis Giesen. Unfortunately, his site wasn’t quite successful, and he eventually sold it, but then bought it back, and re-launched the site in 2013. Furthermore, Drew also started the podcast, and authored the book “Cracked: Putting Broken Live Together Again” in 2003, the sales of which also added to his wealth.

He also ventured into acting waters, landing several notable appearances, both as himself and a fictional character in such TV series and films as “Dawson’s Creek” (2003), “Wild Hogs” (2007) and “Drunk History” (2015).

Regarding his personal life, Drew has been married to Susan Sailer since 1991; the couple has three children, born as triplets in 1992.

Drew is of Jewish ancestry, however, he abandoned his religion and considers himself a nonobservant Jew. In his free time, he jogs, and lifts weights, as he likes to be in form.

Back in 2013, he had health problems; he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but after successful surgery has managed to completely recover.
