Diane Simone Michelle Halfin is a Brussels, Belgian-born American fashion designer, born on 31 December 1946, to a Romanian father and a Greek-Jewish mother, As Diane Von Furstenberg, she is particularly known for her famous wrap dress. Diane was previously married to Prince Egon of Furstenberg from where she gets her surname. She has been active in her profession since 1970.

Apart from being the owner of a now global luxury lifestyle brand “DVF” which offered four complete collections every year, she also launched a cosmetic line, and fragrance named “Tatiana”. She relaunched her company in 1997 while re-introducing her wrap dresses which are still very popular in the fashion industry. Her company now has 85 stores and 45 free standing shops, and operates in over 70 countries.

For her contributions to the field of fashion designing and the business world, she was rewarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Council of Fashion Designers Of America (CFDA). She currently serves as the president in CFDA, the position she has held since 2006. Danie was listed as the 68th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine in 2014, and the next year Time Magazine listed her in Time 100 as an icon.

Regarding her personal life, Furstenberg had two children with Prince Egon of Furstenberg, however, her title “Her Serene Highness Princess Diane Of Furstenberg” was removed after her divorce. She subsequently married Barry Diller in 2001, with whom she had been involved since the 1970s.
