Detox has a twin brother, and a sister. He attended Manatee High School, and would later move to South View High School in North Carolina. He matriculated in 2003 and would start to perform in drag while still a teenager, firstly performing in nightclubs. He then moved to West Hollywood, California, to try and pursue a career full-time in entertainment.

Detox would start by appearing in various music videos, such as those for Rihanna and Ke$ha, and was part of the Lady Gaga music video entitled “Applause”. He also became a part of Chad Michaels’ “Dreamgirls Revue”, California’s longest-running female impersonation show. Eventually he joined the band called “Tranzkuntinental”, which featured various drag queens such as Vicky Vox, Rhea Litre and Kelly Mantle. More opportunities would open up for him which would increase his net worth significantly, as he worked as a model too, and would act in “Showgirls in Drag” in 2011.The following year, he appeared in the parody of “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips entitled “Chow Down”, leading him to perform with Vicky Vox and William Belli under the name DWV, which is a combination of their first initials, and also a parody of SWV. They released various singles including “Boy is a Bottom”, “Silicone” and “Blurred Bynes”., as well as music videos which would become viral.

In 2012, Icunt became one of the 14 drag queens to compete during the fifth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on Logo TV, which he won the children’s TV show-themed main challenge. He finished the competition in fourth place, and sang the “We Are the World”-inspired song entitled “Can I Get an Amen?”, the proceeds of which went to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. Four years later, he would become a part of the second season of “RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race”, in which he was a runner-up position alongside Katya Zamolodchikova. All of these opportunities increased his net worth even further.

For his personal life, not much is known of Detox’s romantic relationships, if any. Matthew was in a car accident in 2009 that required him to have his forehead reconstructed.
